Those bikes are awesome pieces of machinery for $12k...some less some more. But that's not the arena I am talking about. Class 2 has a throttle and is considered a motor vehicle by NPS. Class 3 has no throttle but has assist up to 28mph. They are foggy on that class. I suggest class 1 is most suited to my style of rv travel and road/trail use.
The NPS Order Number 3376, Section 4, (https://www.doi.gov/sites/doi.gov/fi...kes_-508_0.pdf) appears to treat Class 1, 2, and 3 equally as a "low-speed electric bicycle". Of course outside of the NPS, different rules may apply.

I bought a Lectric EBike. I haven’t got to use it much or camp with it. But it does fold nicely and I think it will be a great addition to our camping trips.

Not folding, but...

We had two Dahon Mariners for taking along in the airplane for obvious reasons - no room. But the smaller wheels and format always seemed a bit uncomfortable - especially when wearing a pack and navigating hills, up or down at speed.

We bought a couple of Townie Go units at the end of season deal. Very stable, fat tires, tractor seat, and upright riding position. Without the batteries, about 53Lbs; with batteries about 58. Considerations:
1. Riding comfort - upright position, tractor seat, flat-footed at rest, easy and intuitive controls
2. Good Tech - reputable mid-motor with smooth operation, selectable boost, reputable battery with built in locks for the battery and café lock on the bike - same key.
3. Packable - sort of: easy release of the front tire even with the band brake and no external derailleur, since we will be stowing these bikes. My past experience bringing bikes along showed me that derailleurs and brakes on removable wheels ALWAYS get unhappy when bumped, dropped, looked-at wrong or criticized in a fit of anger.

One bike rides on the Fiamma rack, one under the canopy in the back of the truck.

FWIW, your mileage may vary, don't try this at home, etc.

Agreed. We've had two of them for over two years now and they've been trouble free. The Gates carbon belt drive instead of a chain is a big plus for minimizing maintenance and not having to deal with a dirty chain.

Evelo Quest Max here also. Love the combination of mid drive, gates belt, and
NuVinci internal hub transmission.

Looked at that one. City bike, Not sure of its off road ability and at 350 watts may be under powered for my purposes. However, if I were using it as a city bike I would most definitely have at or near the top of my list. This is great bike on paper. Feature rich.
Harry
How do you use your bike ??

At home I use mine for simple trips to the sports bar, no DUI issue, and if I need something small at the grocery, 2 miles away. I fold it to put in my truck bed to take on rallies. It makes visiting other attendees easier and sometimes the office is too far away to walk quickly...saves driving the truck to get there.

I had the manual City Bike. Very uncomfortable as I sat too close to handle bar. Hit a bump and almost went over. Sent them back. (had 2).

Hello Mark,
any chance you have, or could, measure the height of the bike with the handlebars folded down? The Rad web site has lots of good dimension information, but that one isn't provided. Wondering whether it would fit into my truck bed with a cap installed (not folded, just with the handlebars down).

Thanks,
Ken

Bought a pair of Qualisports Dolphin folding ebikes to put in the back of the pickup while camping. (to avoid damage which can occur on a bike rack)

https://www.qualisports.us/products/dolphin

What I have found is they take up a LOT of room in the pickup bed. We will only bring them on trips that we'll be spending a bunch of time in one place. Also, the 20" tires (although fatter than usual) discourage my wife from any non-paved trails.

Original RadMini x 2:

https://www.radpowerbikes.com/produc...lding-fat-bike

They fit in the back of a Tundra with a cap, on their wheels with handlebars folded. We now use a trifold tonneau, fold the bikes, and lay them on their sides (padded) with the front wheels removed and handlebars in riding position. Can't do that if you have fenders, though.

33 1/2” you could take off the front tire if you need more room.

I believe that it would fit with the handle bars down.

Anyone tried the Sondors Fold X or Fold XS? Just wondering about quality and availability of help (they have an owners forum they direct you to) so want to make sure it is pretty trouble free. Thanks so much.

e-bikes

Found a bike I really, really like. However, it is not a folding e-bike.
DOST bikes. If you never heard of them they are new. Just came on line yesterday. Would buy one in a heart beat if it folded.
Any of you out there that travel with a full size non folding e-bike.
If yes, how do you transport it, store it when traveling and keep it safe when you are not around ??? Where do you keep it over night ?
Even though it does not fold I am still give it serious consideration if anyone comes up with a plausible way of transporting it. Folding bikes are easy. Non
folding bikes when traveling with trailer Not So easy.

You gotta check these Dost Bikes out. Great specs and lots of power !
