we have a pair of Tern Vektron S10 Gen 2 bikes. one silver, the other black. we both love it
last year we kept them folded inside.
this year we are getting the Fiamma --carry bike caravan active e-bike rack

They are NOT scooters. they only boost when you peddle
the battery slides in and does not interfere with water bottles or rear rack space.

well built and long lasting

Watch the weight. Flamma may not handle 2 bikes weighing 45+ lbs each.
It would be a tragedy if the came off the trailer.

I’ve got a non folder - Quietkat. They also make a folder. Very durable but heavy. I sue mine off road so I have 1,000 watts mid drive. It’s like a tow vehicle- you won’t regret having too much power.

I toyed with buying a Montague full size folder and then buying a power pack/mid drive motor from Luna. I think that might be the best of all options.

Yes i know about the weight limit.thank you for the warning );

we remove the heavy battery, seat and other items. it takes about 10 lbs off each bike.

i will be beefing up the FIAMMA as others have done.
most of the weigh is vertical, the horizontal forces can be re-enforced and made stronger. i already have received SS As brackets vs. the cheap cast ones that came with the unit.

fiamma does make a stronger rack for heavier bikes. AS did not elect to use that model. FIAMMA wont sell to people, only distributors

this is what it looks like. the brackets on the AS are the weak point

RadWagon on Fiamma Rack

We carry a single (on a modified Fiamma Rack with the battery removed) RAD wagon mostly, but I also converted a couple of DaHon Mariners to have front wheel hub motors many years ago. They did not become much of a "success" until lithium-ion batteries became mainstream, but after using those on them, both work well enough now and still fold up. We can ride 2-up on the RadWagon and it is the usual choice for a trip now. Unlike most e-bike offerings, it has regenerative braking. Only issue with it was getting it wet in a rainstorm which caused the controller to die...it worked again after it dried out. 750 watt rear hub motor using a Panasonic battery. Rad models have very good value for the $$ IMHO.

We purchased Radpower mini step through folding bikes, and love them. They are in great demand by thieves, so use extreme caution. We had ours stolen from the gated Caliente Hot Springs Resort. And are now on our second set with serious theft prevention schemes in place! Radpower has a very strong reputation, and quality product.

Can you share some of the methods and products you use in protecting your e-bikes?

Not much different than my older mountain bikes. Big fat cable locks. Battery locks to frame. I do take off headlight and its battery, taillight, and e-bike control module

We have been looking at Pedego. Not the fold up, we plan on just putting them in the trailer. Does anybody have an experience with this brand?

We have 2 Pedego's. One Interceptor and one Platinum Interceptor. Both step throughs. Great brand. Support and service has been phenomenal on the couple of times I have needed something. Just at three years old and I have just over 1000 miles on mine. Original batteries and still getting 20-30 miles of range. Only thing I have done is go to puncture resistant tires and tubes with linings. To many goats heads in Texas.
There weren't many choices three years ago. I've seen the RadPower bikes and know people that own them. That might be my go to in the future if I needed a folding bike.

We have two Townie’s. Entry level, relatively inexpensive, love them, but even without the battery, they are ridiculously heavy. Is there an alternative rack to the Fiamma?

I own the Lectric XP. It's a foldable utility fat tire cruiser similar to the Rad mini. Great price and nice bike.

I can say that as my fitness has improved, I'm transitioning back to a road and/or mountain bike. We boondock alot and this reduces the generator demands.

We traveled with two Dahon Speed 7's and recently upgraded to a pair of Qualisports Dolphins. Dahon assisted with the design of the frame so it's rock solid and the Samsung batteries are housed in the seat post so no battery packs are hanging on the frame. The only negative is that the seat post is easily removable so I'll need to figure out some sort of locking device to keep it from walking away. Other than that, can't figure out why we waited so long to go electric, it's really opened up our cycling possibilities.

I see Brompton makes an ebike. Anyone with any experience? It has a detachable battery pack.

The relatively small package seems appealing for transport.

Lectric XP

wife and I each have one, only had them for a month, and we settled on the Lectric XP. So far, they have been great, and I would say it is near perfect for our use case. We are not really into biking, so I can't offer a serious review/opinion, we use it as basic transportation, and then the bonus is some trail riding, or beach riding, etc. Bang for the buck seems unbeatable (less than $1K each). I will say that the bikes are heavy, so be prepared for that, including your sense of balance as you ride them. They take some getting used to in that way, but I have no regrets at all, and would get them again. They fold up very easily, but take a little effort to get into the truck bed. At the campsite, we put a simple ($10) tarp over them at night to protect against hard rain.
