Dinette cushions don't fit

We have a new 2016 19 ft international. The cushions on the dinette do not fit together to make a bed. At first I thought the cushions were too wide but now I think the trailer curve and cushion curve are not compatible. Anyone else have this problem? see pic.

I looked for images of the international 19' and it sure seems like it's supposed to fit.

Just from my eye, it seems like your large right cushion is too large, see how it is farther into the center where the table attaches? And it's up on the table.

It's a wide body vs narrow body issue. Cushions are the same for both but do not fit well for the narrow boy trailers. Use the wide back cushion and slide the big bottom cushions together. Then use the other narrow back cushion between the wall and the big cushion the hold in place. That's as confusing as I can make it. Bottom line both back cushions will not fit for narrow body trailer

Hi pegjust,

Congratulations on your new International! Sorry you're having trouble with the cushions when trying to convert the dinette a bed. After looking at your picture, I know what's going on.

Please try placing one of the smaller cushions vertically between the interior wall and the larger cushion like in the included picture. We'll also review any training and documentation to ensure this is covered.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our customer service and technical support team at 1 (877) 596-6111, option 2.

yes that will work but this isn't the way it was designed. Is this a common issue?

Hi, pegjust. Yes, that cushion layout is intentional when the dinette is converted to a bed in the 2016 19ft International.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions about your new Airstream. We're here to help!

Dinette cushions don't fit.

We did hours of research on our 19' 2017 FC, especially on the bedding. We watched videos from airstream dealers on how to deploy the dinette table and Colonial Airstream did it with one hand on the go pro. He used all four cushions. In March and on our first trip we discovered four cushions would not fit. When we asked the dealer they agreed and ordered another set which did the same thing. The photo is of another 19Fc delivered the same time as ours with the correct cushions.
When you deploy the cushions as described by airstream (the photo used here by airstream is most likely a 23D, not a 19) you have two cushions that slant down due to the edges sitting on the raised dinette table and then a 1" dip in the center from the thinner seat back. Possibly the most uncomfortable dinette bed of any we tried at the Tampa show. Does airstream actually look at what they design? Airstream also advertises a 91" dinette/bed on the 19' which is false with the way they suggest deploying the cushions.
I stopped at another dealer today and they said I did not have the correct cushions although one sales person said he noticed the change a while back and has been telling folks to squeeze them together. That is difficult to do, almost impossible to make the bed, and will likely deform the cushions over time.
We are questioning our whole reason for getting an airstream as quality has not been what we expected and we received false information from dealers and the airstream site. Our dealer tried to make this right but airstream shut them down. As a side note they apparently discontinued the fitted bed spread, although that is not what is represented on their web site.
Very disappointed.

We just took delivery of a new 2018 FC 19 that has this exact same issue. When one tries to lay the cushions out in a bed configuration they do not fit.

Reading through this thread I don't see where there was ever any resolution. Did we get the wrong cushions with our FC?

The table should sit on top of the seat tops, this is why those center pillows are thinner than the larger ones.

Or is that just a picture trick and the table is sitting on the wooden bases?

We have a 2016 19' FC.

Dinette pillows are tight, we "v" the middle two in the middle and press them flat. We just thought this is how they are supposed to work. Yes a little tight but then they don't slip.

This is the 2018 FC 19 that we just took delivery of yesterday. No amount of squeezing, pushing or shoving is going to make these cushions fit the way they re supposed to.

Yep, that's wrong for sure!!!!!

Here is ours, however I built a custom table which raises the center cushions 1/2". However, they fit so much better than yours.

We were told that airstream made a change sometime in 2017 to these unworkable cushions. The dealer was trying to work with us but the airstream rep said that is the way it is supposed to be and that there is nothing else to do. The workable photos I posted above were from another 2017 so there were some that were right in that model year. Most dealers are not yet aware.

We went back and looked at the sales at other 19 footers and some cushions fit. Ours didn't. I think the curve of the interior prevents the cushion (big one that forms the seat) from sitting properly as if it is too long. If we shorten it, I worry that stirring at the dinette will be less comfortable as my knee caps might hit wood instead of cushion. Airstream told us to use one upright cushion in the middle and the other on the end. It shortens the bed and seems pretty "sketch" for a solution. But we don't plan to have an adult sleep on it, so we didn't push it. Might be worth seeing if the sales yard had cushions you could try.

I should also point out that my wife called and spoke to an airstream rep who said he would research the issue and get back with her. That was about three weeks ago and no call back yet.

I should also mention that my wife called airstream direct over a month ago and they were going to research and get back with us. No call back yet! We solved it by trading the 19.

When we took delivery of our new 2018 FC19 in late June we discovered that the dinette cushions would not make up into a bed (see earlier post with photo). About a week ago we had a break in our camping schedule so took the coach into our dealer (Airstream of Spokane) with a couple of minor requests. I also asked them to see what they could do about the cushions. When I picked the coach up yesterday I fully expected to be told that Airstream wasn't owning up to this issue. Imagine my surprise when I was told the problem had been solved. They had recently gotten another 2018 FC19 into inventory that didn't have a problem so they swapped cushions with me. It turned out that my seat backs were 13.5 inches high and the other coach had 12 high seat backs. That three inches difference was preventing us from making our dinette into a bed. As you can see, the problem is now resolved.

I understand Airstream is still not admitting to the problem but have to give kudos to my dealer for doing the right thing. SPOKANE AIRSTREAM IS AWESOME.
