For Christmas I got a bird feeder and a hummingbird feeder, both with suction cups so they can be attached to the trailer. I do like birds.

For Christmas our son bought us a Lodge Dutch Oven, 4 qt, and a pie iron. Now I need to add charcoal and a charcoal chimney to our kit. Anyone have any experience with pie irons?

I took advantage of the 40's and pulled the belly pan. I only got half done, but it is a pain in the buttocks.

Same here, a new tow vehicle.

With the heavy tongue weight of the 28' Sig, the steering is a little light. I haven't gotten a chance to rig up a brake controller yet so it is a little dicey in stop-n-go traffic.

Ok third purchase posting on this thread. Last night I installed a new radio and it is a doozy!

Right after I purchased the stream in 2011 I purchased a new radio but using it the last year was an experience in frustration. The controls were a series of little buttons and hidden menus. Basically I did not like it. I am a techie and it made me feel stupid trying to operate it.

So, just got a Pioneer DEHX-9600BHS and it is superb. If anyone is looking consider it. It is a 2014 and loaded with features but what makes it nice is the"drill down" design. Where the other unit had some features, all the buttons were in your face with all kinds of acronym printed ques to identify functions- horrible. Each time for me it was a guess as to what to press. This one has a clean large dial face with full dot readout- time, etc. There are a few buttons all located on the left except for one on the top right that drops the face down to access the CD player. The two USB connectors are in the rear but they enclose a wire- that works better for me as I ran it through the hole with the bluetooth mic wire in the locker and have to have a place to sit the iPod/iPhone anyway. It has Bluetooth phone and streaming, HD Radio, Pandora, Full Apple and Android control, Siri Voice control and many other features including the use of preset color themes or as detailed as using hexadecimal color codes for thousands of shades! The best part though is the clean face and I know how to turn it on and off!

Stopped by at Inland RV and met Andy and Liz and Dolores. Picked up some goodies and got referred to Aircraft Spruce for Cleco's and a Cleco tool. Fun stuff.

Sometime on the 20th of December the process started and our trailer got a frame, tanks, wheels, axles, exterior skin attached to the "plywood" floor, windows, door, A/C units and all were assembled.

On the 2nd of January the unit passed the first bath test. It looks like the electrical wires have been pulled along with the PEX plumbing. The roughly 3" brown insulation being installed is not fiberglass but a mixture of recycled wood and papers with a slightly higher "R" insulation value (one or two digits like R-6 vs R-5 - not sure of actual numbers though) than the pink fiberglass. They coat the inside of the aluminum skin now with a tacky glue so the insulation does not slide down over time and leave an uninsulated space in the wall.

Electrical do-dads:

• 25' 30 Amp extension cord The 25' 30 amp extension cord we inherited from Dad with the MH didn't look safe to use anymore, as we could see "stuffing" sticking out of the cord at the base of the male plug. So, we tossed it in favor of a new one.
• contact cleaner Based on comments here in the forum, this seemed a good preventive move.
• portable surge suppressor
• portable voltage regulator

These last two are probably overkill, but seemed good insurance against campground power gremlins who might try to eat the trailer's electronics along with those we bring along for the ride. We saw some pretty bad power while camping in the old MH last summer.

Small mechanical stuff:

• dry graphite for locks (per the Airstream manual)
• inexpensive neoprene gaskets for the receiver and coupler locks (The lock stems are just long enough to rattle a bit, so we put "rubber baby buggy bumpers" on them to prevent it).
• 303 protector for window gaskets, tires, etc.
• A full set of replacement pins for the Equal-I-Zer hitch as insurance against losing one in the dirt hundreds of miles from anywhere.

Stuff we tossed:

• The various chunks of wood that Dad used for leveling activities, substituting Lynx levelers and caps. Those are lighter, easier to clean before putting away, and seem less likely to transfer various wood-gnawing bugs and fungi into the trailer.

Well, there are 4 items in this picture. I bought one of them on a whim while in harbor freight. While dry camping at wrights beach on New Years and attempting to keep the grey and black tanks balanced, all of these things and myself joined in a moment in time. Can you guess which item I bought and was very pleased to have on board? Fortunately the thing I bought has magnets on the working end and two of the other things are made mostly of stainless steel. Lesson learned: check the soapy dishwater before dumping! Fortunately everything ended well and I didn't have nightmares of forks stuck in thetford valves!

Well, as they are part of a set, (2) 20 minute full submersions in a heavily concentrated clorox solution with rinsing and drying in between says yes. Same with the removal tool.

Simple soap or detergent and water would have done the trick, same as washing one's hands after using the restroom. (Brain bleach might be needed to clear the mental image out of people's minds, but that has less to do with the actual sanitation.)

Funny you should post this, one of the things you bought came in handy yesterday evening...........
After to much snow plowing I had to re-fill the old 8-N and in the process a part of the new fan dangled pour spout fell into the tank. So now here I am, at about dark, 10 degrees out, holding my cell phone and using the flashlight app. to see down the 2" fill hole in the tank, using the afore mentioned thing to try and grab hold of the plastic spout. Luckily the claws on the thing opened wide enough that I was able to retrieve the spout, just as I was about to freeze to death. Good thing as we are expected to get 8-10" more snow today.....
Adding a 'thing' to the camper tool box as soon as I can make it to town.
