Great idea! I am Bill Herb LTC, USAR (Ret). Did 9 yrs active duty in the Navy - amphibs and Naval Security Group. Did another 9 yrs in Navy Reserve. Made CDR. Could not quite get my good 20 in commissioned status so enlisted in the Army Reserve as E-5. Did about 6 years in Army Intell and retired as LTC. Vietnam Vet. Die hard flag waver!!!

I'm in State of Washington across the river from Portland. Anxious to hear about others nearby. God bless America!!

My main patrol duty station was up there in the plastic 'nose' of the aircraft, the best seat in the house! We used to take off from Alameda NAS and head out to sea right over the Golden gate Bridge...I must have taken hundreds of pictures back then...what a sight to behold as we flew around the SF Bay Area!

I merged the Military Roll Call thread into this thread as requested by the OP. I have also removed a few duplicate postings. None of the individuals information was lost.

I even found my original post to this thread.

US Army Vietnam 68-69 Sp5 where I was a 11BL80 (Interpreter in a Infantry Unit-IE Grunt who was Schooled in Vietnamese and to see if we would be any value to a Field Infantry unit). I was assigned to the 2nd 27th of the 25th Infantry UNIT which was out of Cu Chi (but we were never there).

Hey Gene, and welcome. Dad was with 2/27 as a medic in 66-67. He came home just before the Tet. I am guessing you caught the Tet. I have studied Cu Chi, you say you were never there because????? field duties, or physically in country? Anyway, just felt a little click here to see a Wolfhound show up here. Too cool. Here is a couple of pics of dad.

Adam,
Yea I went thru the Tet of 69. What I meant by never being in Cu Chi is that we were always in the boonies on Sweeps etc. However we were in Cu Chi one time and that was to pull security for the BOB HOPE Christmas Show. We had special roped off seats at the very front but if the base was hit that night we were the guys going to the front lines. But it did't happen so we saw a great show from great seats.
Regards Gene
