Thank you. It did come out kind of good. It was a target of opportunity. SuEllyn took that picture with the D80 Nikon out of Fred's side window from the I-80 Bridge at 60 mph.

Now you are in our stomping grounds. Cardinal is a nice park but can get a little noisy as it is a shooting facility. It has a fantastic. sporting clays course.

We noticed that this morning. Lucy was in one of the campsites right along the trap shooting range. The shooting started early. We really enjoyed it. There is not a safer campground anywhere.

This morning we were awakened by gunfire. Lucy was camped right across the road from a very large trap shooting range. Some of the shooters had set up for practice. These guys have some very interesting vehicle combinations that they bring out to the range. The one that was set up right in front of Lucy was quite interesting. There is a photo of this below.

We got Lucy packed up and headed out. We made our way south through Columbus and eventually arriving in the Cincinnati area late this afternoon. We continued past Cincinnati and into Indiana. We followed the Ohio River on the Indiana side down to Rising Sun, Indiana where we got Lucy a campsite at the Little Farm on the River Campground.

Based upon a recommendation at the campground, we went into downtown Rising Sun for supper and stopped at Rockies Bar & Grill. What a great place! We had excellent half pound bacon cheeseburgers, cooked medium rare at $6.50 a piece. As if that wasn't enough, Thursday night's special was $2 long necks. We stayed for a while and watched the live entertainment around the two pool tables.

We got back to Lucy shortly before dark and got settled in for the night.

Tonight's pictures:

- Trap shooter's rig across from Lucy this morning.
- Columbus, Ohio Skyline.
- Entering Indiana.
- Vintage ice cream stand in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
- Ohio River near Lawrenceburg.
- Road to the campground.
- Rockies Bar & Grill in Rising Sun, Indiana
- Main Street, Rising Sun.
- The 1845 Ohio County Courthouse in Rising Sun, Indiana.
- SuEllyn taking a rest in downtown Rising Sun.

That part of the Ohio River looks like an interesting little corner of the world on the map. Rabbit Hash, Kentucky, is right across the river, but it would take a while to drive there. That northern bump-up of Kentucky looks pretty rural, judging from the topographic map. So interesting how the river really does define a boundary of two different areas.

Rockies sounds great . . .

Thanks again for all these views into life in America. What a diverse country! We can't wait to take such a trip in the next year or two.

Good luck in Jackson Center!

Lucy is camped in Rising Sun, Indiana, along the Ohio River. We set out this morning to Patriot, Indiana to visit a company called Swiss Caps. Swiss Caps makes high quality toppers for pick-up trucks. We are considering making a change away from the truck camper and going to a cargo topper for Fred. We spent a couple of hours going through the options and different components.

Based upon a recommendation from the guy at Swiss Caps, we drove to Warsaw, Kentucky for lunch at a local restaurant called Jewell's on Main. The food and atmosphere were great. The restaurant is located in a downtown commercial building that was built in 1843.

Since were already on the Kentucky side of the river, we decided to tour some of the towns on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River. We went down to Carrollton, Kentucky and on to Milton, where we crossed the Ohio back into Indiana.

We toured Madison, Indiana for an hour or so. Madison has the largest concentration of Nineteenth Century commercial structures that we have seen anywhere. There is some really significant historical architecture in Madison. We then drove up to Aurora, Indiana before heading back to Lucy.

We got settled into Lucy for the night right as the rains came in. It is enough of a storm that I had to run out and get Lucy's big awning rolled in.

Tonight's pictures:

- Tug with barges on the Ohio River. Farm fields are in the foreground.
- Highway along the River with corn on the left and soy beans on the right.
- The 1837 Gallatin County Courthouse in Warsaw, Kentucky.
- The 1894 Allen House on Main Street in Warsaw.
- The Carroll County Courthouse in Carrollton, Kentucky.
- Commercial buildings in Madison, Indiana.
- Ohio Theatre in Madison, Indiana.
- Moon-Lite Motel neon sign in Madison, Indiana.
- 1887 office building in Aurora, Indiana.
- Feed store in Aurora, Indiana.

Hi Peter,

This is a very interesting area. The mix of farms right next to industry is very unusual.

We find it very enjoyable to explore the nooks and crannies of this great country.

Lucy is still camped in Rising Sun, Indiana. Today we took a tour of Downtown Cincinnati and Covington, Kentucky which is right across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. We also stopped in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. We were crossing state lines so often that we had a bit of trouble keeping track of which state we were in at any given time.

We saw some really neat historic buildings. Since it was Saturday, we could freely move around in these downtown areas. Late this afternoon we made our way back to Lucy and have settled in for the night.

Tonight's pictures:

- Forlorn old barn along Indiana 56.
- Coming into Downtown Cincinnati.
- Triangle shaped old bank building in downtown Covingtion, Kentucky
- Old 6th Street Firehouse in Covington.
- The 1871 Mother of God Church in Downtown Covington. The twin steeples are twenty stories tall.
- Nicely restored homes on 6th Street in Covington.
- Madison Theatre in Downtown Covington, Kentucky.
- Downtown Cincinnati skyline from the Covington riverfront with the 1866 Roebling Bridge in the foreground.
- 1924 Walnut Theatre in Downtown Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
- The 1893 Liberty Theatre in Downtown Lawrenceburg. It was originally built as a vaudeville venue, and was converted to motion pictures in the early 1920's.

Lucy Broke camp this morning in Rising Sun, Indiana. We headed north into Ohio and have stopped in Cincinnati at the Winton Woods County Park Campground. The campground is located on the north side of Cincinnati. We got Lucy settled in and headed out to the grocery store. We got Lucy restocked with ice cream and other essentials.

We got back to the campground, had a nice supper in Lucy, and got settled in for the night.

We are posting some pictures from yesterday as we find ourselves a little short for today.

Tonight's pictures:

- Old show store sign in Aurora, Indiana.
- Old commercial buildings in Aurora.
- Old porcelain gas station in Aurora.
- View from Lucy at the campground in Rising sun.
- The very modern Ascent at Roebling's Bridge Building in Covington, Kentucky.
- Joe's Diner in Downtown Cincinnati.
- The 1866 Railroad Station in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
- Winton Woods Campground.
- Lucy's view in the campground.
- Fred and the Girls settled in at their campsite.

Brian,
My grandparents were married at Mother of God church in Covington in 1927.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother...n,_Kentucky%29

If you want to see a quaint small town check out Oldenburg, In. All the streets are still named in German.

Our Region 5 rally will be in Madison, In - your too early, you need to come back in September.

Thank you so much, Steve, for the information. It sure is coincidental that I would take a photo of the church where your grandparents were married almost 90 years later. The steeples on Mother of God soar twenty stories in the air. These are some of the tallest that we have seen. Thank you also for the link so that we could see the inside of the church. The sanctuary is most impressive. I can't imagine anyone ever building a church like that again.

As you know, we were in Madison, Indiana, a few days ago. For a town of its size, Madison has the largest collect of significant historical architecture that we have ever seen. The residential areas close to the town center rival Georgetown in Washington, DC.

Lucy is still camped in Cincinnati. Fred has developed a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) issue. This can result in an engine shutdown. We got him to a Chevrolet dealer who took him in right away. He will hopefully be ready tomorrow. He has to spend the night at the Chevy Dealer. We got a rental car to come back to Lucy.

We didn't get any pictures today, so we will post a few from the last couple of days.

Tonight's pictures:

- Old Covington, Kentucky Train Station.
- Old jewelry store sign in Downtown Covington.
- The 1914 Echert Building in Downtown Covington.
- The 1860 Trinity Episcopal Church in Downtown Covington.
- Main Street, Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
- Train track through downtown Lawrenceburg.
- Sunset tonight at Lucy campground.

Not a lot of mooses in Ohio or Indiana. But I'm enjoying the photos of historic buildings and the Pa. countryside. Is the camper not working out for you?

Hi Gene,

The camper is working fine. We have had it for five years now, and we are considering moving on to a cap on the truck with a Honda 3000 in the bed. We are still thinking about this.

Fred has recovered and is back on the road. We picked him up at the Chevrolet dealer this afternoon. This morning while we were waiting for Fred, we visited the Cincinnati Ikea store. We spent most of the morning and part of the afternoon going through Ikea, and checking out all their stuff. This place is like Disney World for adults. We even had a nice lunch at the Ikea Cafeteria.

After the Ikea visit, we went and retrieved Fred. We took Fred to Jungle Jim's Supermarket in the Cincinnati suburb of Fairfield. Jungle Jim's claims to be the largest supermarket in the World. We don't know if this claim is true, but it is the largest grocery store that we have ever seen. Their beer and wine area is the size of the average Publix. They have a massive cigar selection including a humidor the size of a three car garage. They have a meat selection that includes wild boar, elk, and kangaroo.

We came to Lucy for supper and to start breaking camp as we will be heading out in the morning. We have now settled in for the night.

Tonight's pictures:

- Ikea, Cincinnati.
- Jungle Jim's, Cincinnati.

Lucy broke camp this morning in Cincinnati and we headed north. We made the hundred mile run up to Jackson Center, Ohio in a couple hours with a Wal-Mart stop along the way.

We got to the Airstream Factory at about one o'clock. We got Lucy into a campsite at the Terraport ( Full hook-up RV sites on the Factory grounds). We made it into the Factory in time to catch the two o'clock Factory tour. We spent about an hour and a half going through the Airstream Plant. The Gentleman that gave the tour has been employed by Airstream for 58 years (since 1958) and has personally owned four Airstream Travel Trailers. The tour was interesting even though we have taken it a couple of times in the past.

We came back to Lucy to get her ready for her appointment at the Factory Service Center in the morning. We have to get up and going very early tomorrow morning as the little green tug will be here to get Lucy at 7 AM.

We have settled in Lucy so that we can get to bed early tonight.

Tonight's pictures:

- I-75 heading north toward Dayton.
- Skyline of Dayton, Ohio.
- The Airstream Factory exit on I-75.
- Ohio 274 on the seven mile run over to Jackson Center.
- Entering Jackson Center, Ohio.

I have been lurking here for some time, enjoying tales of your journeys.thank you for your detailed descriptions of this wonderful country as you travel throughout. You certainly visit some interesting regions.

I'm sort of easing into travel with my AI, "Goliath". My biggest trip is coming up soon...to Jackson Hole, Wyoming....to Ft Stevens SP On the Oregon coast...then to GTNP...and home for the season. (About 1 1/2 months... A test of my travel savvy for a solo senior lady).

Keep your stories coming...I'll be reading! Safe travels. Evelyn.

Hi Brian,

I am awaiting a 2017 F250 diesel and have recently heard a few DEF issues popping up. Not to sidetrack the thread but may I ask what kind of issue Fred had and what was resolution. Very much enjoy seeing your travels and hope one day to run into you on your travels.

Thanks,

Chuck

It sounds like at great trip, Evelyn. Those are some super destinations. You should consider reporting on your adventure. May you have safe travels and a great Airstream Adventure.
