Shut-up

Ain't nothin like ridin a fine horse or your Airstream in new country.Just not this week for me. It has been a slow week here so I guess I will not miss a good chance to Cowboy up and shut-up.Cowboying up means to rise to the occasion, not to give up,and to do it all without whining or complainin.
NATURE GAVE US ALL SOMETHING TO FALL BACK ON,AND SOONER OR LATER WE ALL LAND FLAT ON IT.

Ranch hands

Here are two of my good ranch hands from the old days when they where kids. This is us now, me, my boot scooting cowgirl daughter Teresa and retired bull riding son Larry.(Note he has one of his trophy bull riding belt buckles on.)
RRM lost the contract to run the campgrounds in the Wood Canyon area of AZ,so we will not be camp hosting at Mogollon camp ground this summer.
Guess I will just have to stay in CA and work on airplanes.Sure will miss camping in the pines in my Airstream.

THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE PIECE OF AVIATION HISTORY.

This is a very interesting little piece of historical film. It covers America's entry into the Jet Age with the Bell P59A.

old?

My lot in life?
I'm just an old buzzard that looks kind of mean, but I hops around the hanger and keeps it real clean.
(Photos 1 & 2) Two old girls standing on the steet corrner waiting to go to work.(Photo 2 if you look close between the wing tip of the two aircraft you will see a old dead BAC 111.)

Outhouse

I love this photo of the two hole out house that was posted here on the forums.
Here are some of the things that ran through my mined.
Don't dig for water under the outhouse.
Fast is good but accurate is better.
Head them up,move'em out.
Cowboy up or go sit in the outhouse.
Do it right or get off the hole.
I wish there was time for one more bowl of chili.
I got to see a man about a horse.
There's nothing better for a mans soul than sitin in the outhouse.
I'll be done in two shakes of a lamb's tail.
Sh** I reckon this is gonna hut a little.
If it don't seem like it's worth the effort,it probably ain't
Thanks to who ever made the posting it made my day.

???

This old buzzert is thinking way to much today about things other than good old Airstreams.
Why is it that rodeo bull riden coyboys have flack vest and helmets on dressed like a police swat team? What ever happen to gut and glory, back when it was about the bulls, blood, dust and mud,and the roar of the Sunday crowd.
We have stock car racing (NASCAR) and the only thing that resembles a stock production car today is the name on the front. What gives with that calling it a "Stock car"?
"The Government" makes us wear seat belt, but kids in car seats wear helmet on bikes have air bags in cars and the list goes on.Funny I made it to old age with out all this "the Government" is here to save me stuff. Now that "the Government" has saved me to be old they want to cut medacare ext.because there are to many of us getting old and it cost to much $$$.If they had just let some of us get killed along the way "the Government" would not have this problem. Right.
It used to be I'm from the Government and I'm here to help you.Now it I,m here to SAVE you at all cost.So take a number and wait.
Last week my home state Republican Senators Kyl and McCain voted for with the Democrats to approve a anti gun Judge Furman to the Federl Bench.I guess they are turning into Democrats.
Looks to me like trying re badge with Airstream other Thor trailer. It just seems to show me nothing is what it seems any more.

Castle Air Museum

For you folks that like old aircraft museums here is some info on a really nice one, rates right up there with the Pima Air Museum in Tuson AZ.
It is the Castle Air Museum at the OLD Castle AFB in Atwater CA.It is located in the hart of the San Joaquin Valley, about 2 hour drive South of Sacramento or about 1 hour North of Fresno on highway 99.Take the Buhach Rd off ramp then follow the signs or map or your GPS or your nose to it. Their web site is www.castleairmuseum.org Lot of good info on it
They have a small RV park that is $25 per night with 50 amp full hookups and with that you get ONE free pass to the museum.or dry camp for $15 per night and no pass BUT you get one free dump per day..To use the dump staiton with out staying in the park is $5.00. Ron And Sandra Gardner are the Host. The park is right behind the museum on the old base at 4001 Hospital Rd.Atwater Ca.
SOME oF the the aircraft you will see at the museum are a Dougles B-18 first flow in 1935.It won the inital contract over the B-17.It was the first aircraft to sink a U-Boat in world War 2.Lockheed F-100.F-4E Phantom, the aircraft here was at one time a member of the USAF "thunder Birds".The B-25J They are best known as the first U.S.aircraft to bomb Tokyo Japan as part of the Jimmy Doolittle raid.A C-46 "Commando"they are famous for their flights "over the Hump" in WW 2.They have a British Avro Vulcan B-2 The first bomber to use a Delta Wing.Loockheed SR-71 Black bird From the "Skunk Works" of Lockheed. It is still the fastes known aircraft in the world.A RB-36H Peacemaker. The largest bomber ever built.AND Of course like all good air museums a B-17 Flying Fortress.I am sure some of the yonger folks here have NO idea what I am talking about.SORRY.
One cool think this museum does, is twice a year they have OPEN COCKPIT DAY where some of the aircraft are open so you can go inside them. This year it is May 27th 9:00 till 5:00 and Sep. 2,2012 9:00 till 5:00
Here are some photos taken at the museum.
Photo (1) KC-97 air tanker
Photo (2) B-24
photo (3) B-17 and a B-29.
Photo (4) SR-71
If you come pay them a visit you MIGHT even come visit me.
I hate to say this,BUT."ARE YOU GOING TO COWBOY UP AND COME SEE THEM OR JUST SIT ON THE FENCE AND LOOK AT YOUR AIRSTREAM?"

Oh how time fly's

This week has seen rainy off and on here.BUT I worked about 47 hours this week helping get C-130 out for Thursday's and Friday's filming for of a commercial.
NOW are Airstream made from old aircraft or are aircraft made from old Airstreams?Or maybe they both come from beer cans or do beer cans come from old Airstream and old aircraft.
Here are photos of one of our test drops. That is half a load 1500 gal.3000 gal make a big plash. Now that the grass is watered for BIG $$$!
Taking you Friday night show under this is can be hazadous to your health.DO NOT try this at home.
THERE ARE HIDDEN REASONS BEHIND EVERY TURN IN THE ROAD ON THE JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE.

Hi jack

Hi jacking a C-130 or have I high jacked this thread with aircraft stuff and not Airstreams and boondocking? There's a time in a mans life when he needs to Cowboy up and ride.
Never miss a good chance to shut up so Is it time to send this thread to the happy hunting ground?
I would like to hear what you good folks that have followed this thread think, is it time to pull the plug?
( photos) C-130 being jacked for gear check after a landing gear jack screw change.

Is that plane really jacked up on just those small looking jacks with just a couple square inches of surface under the wings???

Hello From Santa Barbara my place of birth in 1934 at the Cottage hospital.
Yes the aircraft was light about 78.000 lbs so we only had to use 2 on the nose, one on each side of the nose gear the jack pad for them bolt to each side of the aircraft, and 1 on each wing.IF it was heaver say with more fuel we would use 2 on the nose and 2 on each wing. The other 2 when used would be out board of the ones in the photo. The jack pads that mount on the wing are on the spar to carry the load. Each of the wing jacks can lift 35 tons.
