Still can not post photos on the web.
If the internet goes any slower here it will have to back up to keep moving.
That sure puts the pig in the fire.

A big thanks Jim to you and Min, we had a very relaxing couple of days with you both, as always excellent food, stories and fun. It was great to see both of you... It's been too long.

The party is over for the summer. We closed the Rim C G yesterday.
Now what do I do?I will be 80 years old in a few days and have no plans of what to do or go for this winter.
IT IS BETTER TO THINK SLOWLY THAN MAKE MISTAKES QUICKLY.

Here we are at the Lost Dutchman AZ State Park.It at the base of the Superstion Mountains.Somewhere in the craggy volcanic lands above the park, legend says, hides the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine. The Dutchman got the legend started in 1871 when he staggered into Phoenix with some gold nuggets.Locals eventually deduced, likely incorectly, that he had found them in the Superstition Mountains. After more than a hundred years of looking no one has found the mine or the gold.
The park has 134 campsites,68 with electric & water to park your rig to go gold hunting.
There are lots of hiking trails with about 4 going into the Superstition Wilderness area if you would like to try your luck in finding the Lost Dutchman treasure.
Good luck if you try.
DON'T GO IN IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE WAY OUT.

Welcome to Tortillia Flats
Well if you ever have seen the bumper sticker that has "Where in the hell is Tortillia Flat". I will tell you, it is on AZ road 88 Notheast of Apache Junction on the North end of Canyon Lake where the pavement end and the dirt road begins on to Lake Roosevelt.
As you can see in the photos you can realy saddle up to the bar here on a saddle bar stool.
The last 2 photo are on the road comming back the first one is looking at the Superstition Mountains.
COURAGE IS BEING SCARED TO DEATH AND SADDLE UP ANYWAY.
IF YOU CLIMB IN THE SADDLE,BE READY TO RIDE.

Love the Sonoran Desert in the winter. After being in the pines all summer it is nice to be back in the desert.
This Lost Dutchman State Park is GREAT it is realy well kept and has a large staff to keep it supper clean. All the bathrooms in the camping area have hot showers at no charge it is in your $15 Dry camping fee or in your $25 Elect.and water site fees. The same with the dump station free.
The older sites are larger the best for you dry campers that is sites 1 thru 15,33 thru 40 and60 thru 70.I am in 62
For you folks that what elec and water the best sites are 41 thru 58.There is water and elec.at the new sites 70 thru104 they are closer together than the older sites and the ground cover has not growen up.The same with site 16 thru 32.
The new no elec.or water overflow area is first come first serve it is all new. Most of the sites are back in and when you back into some of them you will find the Firer ring and table on the sreet side of your
trailer.Do not know why they built them that way.Since it is new not much ground cover between camp sites .Some have nice veiws
The firs photo is my site, the next 2 are other Arstreams camping here. The last is the ground cover that make camping here so nice.Just love the Sonoran Desert
If any one would like to know more about this AZ Stste Park let me know or visit Arizona State Parks: Home

Hi Jim,
I really enjoy your detailed posts and amazing pics....going to get out tomorrow and get all the potential winter escapee destinations plotted on the maps. Will email you after I become more familiar with AZ as we have only done drive through on our way to CA. Our daughter lives in CA since 2007 and although we usually fly out for visits....we have taken the more southern route in early December from PA. We have family in NM but we have not really explored the desserts and the past several years I have this yearning to spend time in that gorgeous country.
Many thanks and kind regards. Best wishes in your 80th year, remember age is just a number!
