Maybe, but that wasn't the point. I was trying to convey that no one ever suggests that a cheaper but larger Class C would be a viable alternative to an Interstate. Sure a Class C has more room, but even the hoi polloi can tell that the difference in quality more than makes up for the reduced quantity of cubic feet.

I had a wake up call on our first outing to Ocean Lakes in Myrtle beach. This is an immense campground. Take a guess how many Airstreams were there? One. Ours. Felt pretty special. Since then we've been stopped leaving campgrounds to ask about our trailer. Been asked to see the inside. Basically I thoroughly enjoy the thing, and really don't give a rip what anyone else thinks (unless of course its a compliment!).

Even with the deferred maintenance I'll take what I got over anything else on the road.

Excellent!!

Ps - never heard the phrase "give a rip" until about 2 years ago - it has grown on me

The day I finally retire, my "give a rip" meter will be pegged on empty!

The guy in a fifth wheel next to me says, "I can't believe that thing doesn't have electric stabilizers."
I reply, "This crank doesn't offend me. I have tried using a cordless drill to raise and lower the stabilizers. It is easier to use the crank than to haul the drill, the batteries, the socket, and the charger and keep the batterie charged. An Airstream is closer to the ground, anyway. It doesn't take many turns of the crank. The awning is no trouble, either. It is easier than the AE on our previous trailer."
He has a remote control that resembles a tablet to lower his stabilizers and awning. That tablet probably has to be kept charged. What happens if it is dead?

"that thing" sounds a tad pejorative

Haters gonna hate

When we are only going to be gone overnight and we don't want to invade friends or families home. My wife also wants to build a Gypsy caravan that she can pull behind her car.

New VS restored? Honesty if I had the $$ I would go new. Then I could use my spare time camping and rebuilding..

Now, I know every RVer has their own preferences so, I'm only going to say, I sure do love my silver Airstream.

How weird, a Winnebago without the swirly earth-tone graphics on the sides. But then again, given that bilious green color, I think they should go back to the swirly earth-tone graphics.

Am driving north now to pheasant hunt. Passed a RV dealer today with a bright blue one, same model, on the lot. I'll just keep my expensive, classy, quality built aluminum get away machine thank you.

Lol - hey - to each his own - some may find that green thing to tickle their fancy

If I'm being honest I kinda like it more than white...

Also was told recently that besides my ability to have bought a 5th wheel - I was nuts to buy the hyped up 3P hitch....on second thought we have enough threads on that topic

Actually, that is a true statement...
With that much you could've bought a fifth wheel, but you didn't!
Good for you!
I didn't either!
Happy happy happy that I didn't!
Word!

(( If I'm being honest I kinda like it more than white ))

You've got a point, is kinda classy, it matches his water hose.

Geek boy, I've watched you. You went big time on TV. out the top on your AS. Now I hear $$$ on the hitch. You're probably going to have 16 " wheels and LT tires before the year is up and I bet you will have Corrosion X oozing out the rivets on your first trip to the beach. You went green, but you did it the right way, a quality rig that will last decades and you will be as proud of it when you pass it on to your kids as you are today. Find me a 5th wheeler that will say that.

We've had three A/S's but I guess we don't hang around long enough to get into conversations about what people paid for things. If someone did ask me, I would simply tell them "you can't put a price on fun" and I'm glad there are different brands of TT's, and other types of trailers. If they were all the same things would be boring. I have no desire to know what someone paid for anything. My wife and I just enjoy the opportunity to live each day and what we own or others own is of no interest to anyone that I've encountered. I imagine that if someone asks what something costs, they already know because they're not asking because they are interested.
