Yep - we are as a family right now back yard camping

Real quick - protagonist - your comments about her are spot on!! Overall very knowledgable and very friendly - even gave me her cell to call 7 days a week 8am-10pm!!!!!!!!!

And she gave us a couple AS themed gifts - ill put this all in a complete thread tomorrow

Great news! Explain some more about that toilet when you can. Sounds like a new system or, one that no one ever mentioned. The support you have received on the forum and of course, you, making a home for your AS beforehand is really neat.

Yes, more on that toilet please. Macerating toilets are used in boats but not sure why here as our black tanks have spray nozzles to help with the complete dump. Post the brand of the toilet when you have time if you will please. And finally, another congrats on the long awaited completion of travel package.

My understanding was it was used because they placed the black tank in such a way uphill travel was necessary - on a bunkhouse thread it was explained - ill look it up

Domestic is the brand I believe

Thumbs up

Congratulations, this has been a long gestation period, that at some points, must have seemed eternal for you. We have all enjoyed this trip you have taken us on and are looking forward to reading about your adventures as you travel with your family making memories and bonds much more valuable than the price of admission (or the price of multiple fifth wheels). ENJOY!

Photos... We need more photos!

What a beauty. You know there is just nothing like them, beautiful aluminum glow, windows everywhere. Tom Cruse was right in Risky Business "Airstream, there is no substitute". Or was that Porsche, whatever?

I would have to agree!!

Finished the wax job - noticed one of the clearance lights on top shell of rear is not on right - you can see the lens is not in contact with the gasket -

I'm starting to think that this gasket solution is not going to cut it for me - need to check them all today to see if there is any moisture in them - 10 bucks says there is

Be careful climbing!! The skin dents easily and the lens cracks under screw driver pressure when not aligned. Move your truck closer, stand on bed and work from your truck bed ( lean on the riveted skin area if you have to lean at all) . Warranty will replace the lens but not a dent, best wishes.

Customer service told me: 8 foot step ladder from the awning side. Stay on the white top. It has lots of support, but stay near the rivet/seams as much as you can.

If you just want to look, park it next to your garage, and get up on the garage roof to check out the Airstream's roof. Thanks to wonderful inventions like binoculars, you can see things pretty well even if you need a close look.

Then, if you see anything that looks wrong, you can worry about a way to get on top of the Airstream.

Pharm, meant to say, I've been up there several times. Dealer has also, as both of my original Dometic A/Cs went out almost brand new and had to be replaced. No damage. Metal moves but pops right back. As you will see, it's not very pretty up there anyway.

Years ago, I used a foam padded ladder along the rivets but since bought 2 Werner aluminum ladders with one werner aluminum work plank. I now use the combo (for safety reason) whenever I want to inspect the roof for potential leak after winter or wash down the rig. Wait for sales on those ladders or check junk/scrap yard for used ones.

I always avoid climbing through the back or front of the AS, skin has less rib support especially by the marker lights. They dent easily, especially the "curve".

Congrats pharmgeek! I really admire the way you are taking care of the trailer literally from day 1! So where's the first trip and we really do need interior shots!
