It's kind of a shame I don't much care for his music. He just bought the house down the road from us. We can see it from the front door.
Haven't met the new neighbor yet. We live on a dead end road, and his house is the next one toward town from us.

I was so into Bonnie Raiitt in the mid-70s I wrote her to ask if I could get a shot a playing guitar with her band. I love Susan Tedeschi these days, and she is married to the incredible Derek Trucks.

Did you get an answer?
Since I can't play guitar (but can play the phonograph, an ancient instrument) I had other thoughts about her.

Not exactly "love" was what I was thinking, but I was with my girl friend the time I was a foot away from her at a bar in Buffalo in the mid-'70's, so Bonnie and I never were an item. Since she was known in those days for bad choices in men, I thought I might have had a chance.

Did not get an answer. In years afterwards though I played with many outstanding women singers, including Dottie West, Barbara Mandrell and Louise, Janie Fricke, Juice Newton, and more.. just none quite like Bonnie.

I just heard Bela fleck and the noisemakers in Portland last night. They are an impressive tight group. Amazing musicianship and improvisation. The bassist is wicked good. Cheers ted

Wicked good? Sounds like a Boston accent.

Was Victor Wooten still playing with him?

Leo Kottke on his 12 string. Magic fingers. Mostly instrumentals.

Thanks for that. I had forgotten about Kottke. Love that stuff. There's something magic about a well played acoustic 12 string and he's got a great voice.
And at another corner of the box, ( and I never claimed it was four sided or square) for you other OLD rockers out there......
this guy Alvin Lee is still around.

This past week I saw Peter Frampton's 35 Live anniversary tour, amd the Derek Trucks and his wonderful singing wife Susan Tedeschi. Great week for live guitar stuff.

There's a lot of Susan Tedeschi played around here. Joan Osborne, too.

She is awesome. By the way Alvin Lee and Albert Lee are two different pickers. Both great tho.

Oh, yep, absolutely right. Forgive me, I know that but I guess I had Alvin Lee on the brain. IT went like this.
I was listening to a band I grew up listening to when it was Moving Sidewalk:
I like to play my fiddle along with some of this, but this
reminded me of all the versions of it I've heard including of course Ten Years After with ALVIN Lee....and somehow I got over to Albert Lee, and
well...I just went to momentary heck at some point.

I think it was early 1974 when ZZ Top played in Niagara Falls. My hearing has never been the same after I found myself with my head in one of the speakers.

I remember those parties.
My hearing is shot, too. I can pretty much lay it all on diving, gunfire, and rock and roll music.
