It's being watched

You put it in for 11 days. Even an Ebay auction doesn't move until the last 30 minutes...wait, and you'll see it go up and up! We've been patiently waiting for the whole enchalada too!

Patience is not one of my virtues. I'm not a big fan of online auctions. I like to hunker down and deal face to face with folks, like at a swap meet.
Toaster, if you're fairly sure you can get the handle duplicated, PM me. Price of the other handle I'm hoarding is $5 shipping for anyone who can assure that decent replacement handles will be made available to those who need them.
The L-66 handlles I bought have the same length in the midsection, but totally different mechanisms top and bottom.

Update 6/02/05

I know that many vintage owners who need the handle I am offering for auction have not seen this thread or are waiting to snipe the auction in the waning moments.
I was hoping the auction would serve as a market survey for anyone who might have the capability of reproducing that handle.
Prompted by another member, Brian Jenkins, the guy who succesfully duplicated a different handle as mentioned on:
http://www.airforums.com/forum...ght=door+latch has offered to make the effort to have this L-77 handle duplicated if enough people are interested.
You can contact him at jenkins1924@hotmail.com. He has an original L-77 handle in posession and does not need mine.
He is not in the business of making obsolete handles available, just a fellow Airstreamer interested in helping out.
One other note that I need to mention here and on the auction ad:
People, please stop asking me to accept off-auction-site bids for the handle I have listed. I won't do it. That handle goes to the highest bidder on airstreamforums.com. Period. There goes my new home in the Bahamas.
Thank you.

End of story

For those who haven't been keeping score but want to know the results, one handle sold on the forums auction for $50.02. The other handle sold on eBay for $228.50.
The lock sold on eBay for $505.00

handle

I'm looking for a handle for Bragman L-77a door assembly.

Sources?

I take it that a reproduction of the handle was never done?

Hi Jeff. I didn't pursue having a handle reproduced because not enough people expressed interest and I have no need for that handle. The guy I mentioned in post #25 has mentioned in the past that he would pursue another run of reproduction handles if at least 6 people would commit to purchase. I don't know if anyone contacted him or if his offer is still open. Inland RV has kits to replace that lock assembly if you want to go that route.
If you click on the link I posted, you will find a lengthy discussion of the obsolete Bargman L-77 handle.
Welcome to the forums and good luck with your hunt.

Sorry, boeingboy, the lock and handles are long gone. See post #26 of this thread.
The L-77 lock and handles are pretty much extinct. The only solution I know of is to replace the lock or find someone who can fabricate a handle. I believe Inland RV has a replacement kit for the lock.
Good luck.

Does anyone know if the handle from a 66 horizontal model will work in a 77?

The 66 lock was made by Bargman.

The 77 lock is an Airstream exclusive and was made by KT, and now by Airstream.

I doubt that you can make an adaption.

Many dealers carry parts for the KT lock.

But if your talking about the Bargmann 77, that is an entirely different lick.

Andy

The L-66 and L-77 handles are not interchangeable.

My 77 handle is broken off about half way down..if i had a 66 handle could I cut it off and weld/braze it to my handle to fix it? Is the bottom part of 66 handle same as 77 handle in other words?
