I had some Tn. that was clear and came in a Mason jar; GREAT stuff. The supplier also had some "aged", some with brown sugar and some mixed with cherry juice.
Some talk about "Jack" but try George Dickel some time. Made in same area.

Anyone else using Flaviar...came in handy last year.

As a matter of fact FedX just made a delivery 20min ago.

Not really a Bourbon, but does have a very interesting History...can't wait for 'Happy Hour'.

Have a great "Saint Hooligans Day"🍀

1. Bookers with ice.
2. Basil Hayden
2A. Makers 46
3. Makers Mark
4. Jim Beam Black

Now this is a thread! Woodford is my "go to". Makers Mark... who am I kidding. Honestly, I have never met a bourbon that I did not enjoy. Just some more than others.

Great first post, Dave!

Now here is some welcome expertise . . .

I was born in Kentucky and the nectar of the gods - at least in my family was always Maker’s or Wild Turkey.

Bob always seems to be dropping knowledge. I’m not my dad and agree with Woodford Reserve Double Oaked & Jefferson Reserve or Ocean.

My family originally came from Ireland and I really like Powers John’s Lane & Redbreast 15 if you’re looking for Irish Whiskey. ☘️

I see you are in Florida. I can’t find Buffalo Trace in my area of NC. However; I just got back from 2 weeks in FL. Was able to pick up 4 bottles of Buffalo Trace and 1 of Weller while there. It was a good trip! I’ve also had good luck in Texas.

Definitely Woodford Reserve or Angel's Envy for me. Or, Balvenie Doublewood Scotch for variety (and particularly on camping trips, where the smokiness goes really nicely by the campfire).

Bob, this one's for you buddy. I had to search a while for the Buffalo Trace. It was hard to find around here for many months. Finally found a bottle Christmas. Limited to only one bottle purchase and a time due to the scarcity.

Semper Fi! And enjoy St. Paddy's.

My current Best Friend. I retired in January and the wonderful folks I worked with found a way to slip this to me after hours. (I was working in the I.T. Department of the local school system, hummmmm).

It's great stuff and is truly my favorite at the moment. I fear Angels Envy is in my future, though. I suspect I can suffer thru it.

Happy St. Paddy's to y'all.

Hang in there gang. Spring is almost here. It's getting warmer, maybe we can get back on the road. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I'm pretty sure there's no train attached to it.

All the best,

Jim (and Susan)

4 Roses has to be one of the best bargains out there for bourbon, I enjoy everyone of their offerings, single barrel and small batch rival anything out there

I have been on the bourbon trail more times than I can count. Actually going again in September. First, no such thing as a bourbon burn....it is Actually a Bourbon Hug. To lessen the intensity of that hug try a couple things. Start with nothing more than an 80 proof. Great suggestions of different bourbons here, mine is Barton’s. But stick to 80 proof and grow from there. Second, Robert Cross is absolutely 95% correct...but I offer instead of a whole ice cube, start with shavings. That will help tremendously. Then find your favorite chocolate, I prefer milk over dark but, they both work. Remember you are not trying to eliminate the hug, just learning to enjoy it.
Then and only then, if you can’t get used to it, then grab a bottle of Jim Beam or Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream and sit back and enjoy

I’m not a paid employee of any bourbon distillery, but I do love the stuff.

Totally agree with Four Roses. Should have included it my list.

The stuff to get from Four Roses is their special recipes. They have 12 of them I think—tasted them all at a tasting in Chicago held by their master distiller. They all have a very different taste profile, each of which has a 4-letter code corresponding to the recipe’s mashbill and yeast. There are two that I love. They aren’t easy to get but they are cask strength (so water it down) and some of the best bourbon I’ve had (I’ve had a bunch of Pappy before it got stupid rare and expensive). Agree on the Woodfords, Blanton’s, and Jefferson Reserve and Ocean.

The bourbon market has gotten ridiculous in the last decade or so. I’m exploring Armagnac.

The bourbon

I was not clear in post 15....

My bad, I'm taking this opportunity to clear my name.
I do not now nor have I EVER iced my Bourbon in any way shape or form, the glass...YEP.

Right now I'm sitting alongside 2 fingers of the Uncle Nearest 1856 that arrived earlier today. Its very warm, slow lingering & sweet. Definitely a keeper.
