Since you are in Texas here are some for you to consider. These will rival some of the best Kentucky bourbons.

$35 at distillery - Liberty Hill, TX

$45 at distillery - Spice Wood, TX
$48 at distillery - Lewisville, TX
These all can sometimes be found at Total wine or Specs for less.

Yes, Johnny Drum, its from Willett.
My ABC suggested it and it became a favorite easily.

Something that has been out of the rotation for quite awhile, I had forgotten how nice a choice it is.

Eagle Rare, if you can find it. In many areas it's....rare. It's about $30 and gets very good reviews. It's one of my favorites but you have to almost be in the store when it arrives in order to get a bottle.

Hey jhawk40 - since you brought up Texas bourbons, have you seen Witherspoon? It had a good review, but I likely will never get it here.
As for Pappy - I used to get in the hunt in the fall when it was released, our store got a few bottles, sold by silent auction. Over time got 3 different bottles, 3 different ages. Turns out, I wasn't impressed and don't look for it anymore. Maybe I am not a fan of wheated bourbons. The story is that Pappy would go through the Weller stock and pick out barrels to label as Pappy. However, if I run across a Weller I may try it again.

Not only have I seen it I still have a couple of bottles, but it is getting harder to find so I buy what the have when I find it. Last I bought was 4 bottles at Total Wine in San Antonio when I was there a few months ago. Come down here and we will pop a cork on one.

And while at the KHP, google Windy Corners Cafe. Great food and delicious desserts. It's a short ride from the Horse Park.

Go to Bardstown KY and camp at My Old Kentucky Home State Park and you’ll be centrally located to visit all the major Bourbon Distilleries. Love KHP, but it’s further away from the distilleries.

Now THIS is my kind of thread !!
Shame on me for not reading all of the preceding 6 pages but I'll throw a vote out there for Old Forester 1920. I like to let it breathe a bit before due to the high octane, but it is nice. All I saw mentioned are nice. But it really boils down to whatever YOU like is good, regardless of those saying otherwise. Sort of like the "Two Buck Chuck" in the wine world winning all that praise; it wasn't fashionable and from a renowned winery so it shocked the industry. But if it's what you like drinking, who cares!? Cheers!

There you go, if it suits you, then it's right as rain. Susan bought a couple bottles of "Chuck" last week. Pinot's. I need to get her to check for some Lambrusco or Chianti. Don't know if Shaw makes those. Stay tuned......

Bourbon? Yes, Please!!!
Bourbon? Damn, I knew I liked you Airstreamers! How the heck did I miss this thread before?
Currently sipping on a Four Roses Small Batch. I also like/recommend Basil Haydens, Mitchners, and possibly my favorite that I've tried (so far)- George Remus.
And if anyone (heathens) doesn't like bourbon, I also like Scotch too!

Pre-covid we had a few rallies that included DIY tastings... Bourbon one night, Single malts the next, with folks contributing bottles. Good fun and a wide range of bottles brought to the table.
Last time we did this the respective winners where Bomberger’s Declaration Bourbon and Bunnahabhain 12.

For those out west, this is my favorite out of Denver. A.D. Laws.
They have a great Rye too and a Bonded bourbon. AND a bonus, 2 bottles fit perfectly in the little compartment under the Pantry in the 25FBTwin Flying Cloud.
