As a general rule of thumb, when replacing wheel bearings, you tighten the spindle nut just until there is a little friction applied to the hub/rotor/drum, etc.....
in other words, you spin the rotor, and start tightening it very slowly...just when you see that your tension is starting to create a little friction, you stop...you then have to locate the hole in the spindle for the cotter pin, and insert the pin.....dont get it too tight, or it will overheat and create problems. Was that vague enough? ....sry, it is a procedure better watched than described.....
