Hanging things on the Walls

What does everyone use to hang decor on the walls like pictures, mirrors, clocks etc without ruining the surface of the walls? I was looking at using velco but that sometimes can hurt the wall surface. IS there something safe that can be cleaned off if you take the wall hangings down?
Thanks so much for your ideas and help in advance

Hi

It depends a lot on which trailer or van you have and how they finished the walls in your case. Our preferred approach for the "normal" aluminum or plastic laminate walls is to use 3M Command Strip hooks. How are the walls in your RV finished?

Welcome Aboard 👍

Industrial strength Velcro.
Works excellent on the 'mouse fur' and the bare aluminum.
It's held the rear view camera on the back of the AS 5 Seasons, sfsg.

I also use Command Strips or other stick-on adhesive products. The only exception was a clock and thermometer/hygrometer that I mounted on the bulkhead wall of my Airstream. I used nautical instruments that were designed for use on boats. I used screws to mount the bases to the bulkhead. They're very sturdy, but removable to change batteries, etc.

Hi

Some 2017 Airstreams have aluminum walls and others have something else on the walls. Which model do you have?

We were in CA High Desert (very high temps low humidity) and now FL (high humidity but not as hot).
Mounted wall decorations with Command Strips.
Small family pics, (3x5 or 5x7) in inexpensive wood frame with glass, fell off wall, breaking glass (happened in storage, not traveling!). The goo gave-up!
After a couple of years (2018 FBQ-FC) of protecting the like-new surfaces, I finally decided its my trailer and I'm going to judiciously mount our wall decorations with small screws. If this profoundly devalues the trailer, I hope my kids don't discover this fact in the estate sale.

Interior hanging Methods

We have a 2017 TB, and have used a variety of non-permanent attachment methods.
For various metal coat/ key hooks we use 3M command hooks
For photos and art we use 3M two sided padded squares.
For heavier items like a clock and weather station we use small rectangular 3M outdoor “Velcro” pieces. Each holds up to 10lbs.

The Velcro items can be detached and reattached easily to replace batteries.

All have been removed at one time or another with no damage, and have been applied to aluminum and wood veneer surfaces.

Wall Attachments

In our Flying Cloud 30RB we have but two wall-surface adornments not provided by Airstream, a 10-inch diameter aluminum-looking clock attached to partition wall with screw and a magnetic knife holder silicone-glued to exterior wall beside stovetop. The knife holder, sans knives, matches interior skin and looks like a built-in with or without knives. Purists would approve. (Clock survives roughest of roads; knives go in utensil drawer prior getting underway.)

The only other “attachment” we’ve added is a paper towel holder, aluminum in appearance, screwed to bottom of upper cabinet, handy to food prep area between cooktop and sink.

Oh, we did add a squeegee holder suction-disk-and-hook to shower wall with a dab of silicone. The squeegee comes off the hook and into a soaps container which then goes on the shower floor prior rolling.

Somewhat related: the closets flanking queen-size bed give up their hanging items while bumping down the road without a short length of fungo-bat plastic squeezed in between hanger tops and overhead. Not as much trouble as rehanging clothes at end of drive.
