He does NOT have the part that the OP on this thread is looking for. He is looking for the same part. READ!

Hi
There are a bunch of places out there that will custom cut Lexan sheets to your spec. You need a drawing, but that's about it. I do mine up in CAD, so I'm sure it's dead on. I have used several different outfits over the years. Each one more or less randomly selected by Mr. Google. It's very much a no muss / no fuss kind of thing. In comes the piece and it drops right in. The same thing applies to stainless steel sheet and aluminum sheet for other projects.

X2 Kits come with sandpaper to remove your scratches and marks. Although a trip to an auto supply house you can buy full sheets of sandpaper which you might need. Lots of elbow grease will be required. Auto body repair shop may be willing to do the work as well (they have power tools to make job go faster and easier).

If its bad enough that it needs sanded use 1000 grit to start (on the bad area only)then 1500 and finish with 2000.Also dip the sand paper in water from time to time while sanding. Then use headlight restore kit.Total cost approx $40.

Tried the sanding. I did remove the scratches on the exterior quite well.
However, if you can see in the original picture (my first post), it appears that a PO placed their numbers on another piece of vinyl, and stuck that's on the plexi. The numbers area remains black. The white area is the area of the number area vinyl.
It appears to have literally "bleached" the tint from the plexiglass. No clue now.

Side Panel Needs to be Replaced
Hi,
I've researched this topic but can't find good instructions on how to shape either plexi or lexan for the side panels. Do you have any suggestions on how to do this or should I go ahead and purchase a new panel...$$$...yikes!

1/16" Lexan bends pretty easy. Cut a tagboard template to get the size and shape right first then use as pattern for the Lexan. Get UV resistant Lexan.

Hi
Shaping plastic sheets is a function of heating them up and building a form to bend them over. Neither process needs to be very exotic.

Fr. J... howdy again! I would ask my flock... if any are traveling to a town, let you know and could pick up the Lexan... It may sound like a strange request from the pastor.. but, frame it around .. "I see the light.. but now I need shades"...
Peace...!

Couple things I learned from actually rebuilding my 3 piece rock guards.
First is they are not formed to the shape but mearly held in the curved shape by the frame, being 1/8" thick it is fairly flexible and falls within the allowed bending radius the frame provides.
And second is Lexan may not be the best choice. It is superior in crack resistance but not in scratch resistance and now that our 2011 19fc needs one corner replaced I will be using plexiglass as original.

Where can I buy the complete front rockguard with frame?
I need a front rockguard for my '77 Sovereign 31'. Inland RV lists one on their website (backordered status) but is there another source? I am awaiting a call-back from them and from my local Airstream dealer but any input on additional sources would be appreciated.
Thanks!

TUselton, You might try Out of Doors Mart.com. They are a long time Airstream dealer and may have an NOS original part for your trailer. They are very knowledgeable and can most likely help. Ed

Maybe you could make or find a panoramic picture that you like. Have it printed on Vinyl wrapping material, Wrap it over your existing window. Someone else on the forum did this and it looks really cool. Another option is to overcoat the existing window with dark window tint material.

Newbie Question on same/similar topic. I am planning to replace the entire center solar guard on a pre-owned 2018 Classic I recently purchased. I have purchased a new solar guard (complete with both plexiglass, aluminum frame and piano hinge).
To remove and install the center window solar guard, will I need to drill out and replace any rivets or is it (solar guard frame) attached to the front/top of the Airstream using only sheet metal screws? Also, I assume there is sealant used as well between the hinge plate and the surface of the Airstream body but being a "newbie" I don't know what type is used.
Will appreciate any comments, advice, recommendations.
