Airstream Storage

Hi everyone - first post.

I do not own an Airstream yet - still shopping or considering.
Thinking of a 19 to 22 as I am concerned of towing something larger.

I reside in CT and thinking of spending the winter months in Southern California and then storing the Airstream for say the remaining 8 months of the year.

I contacted one RV storage place in California north of LA because this is a high dessert location I am familar with. The place I contacted them via phone and was told they were all filled up. Seems others have this idea as I think it's cheaper than buying a home in California. From what I hear, it's a good practice to keep paying for storage even during the 4 or so months you are not there as to not lose the spot.

Has anyone had experience with renting storage space for your Airstream during the times you are not using it in California? If I recall correctly, it was $90 for a parking spot, more if it's a covered outdoor spot and then there was indoor storage which was the most. Just surprised there was nothing and this place was fairly new and secure.

In the area is also an RV part and I was quote $800 monthly rates to have electric and septic hookup. They have a pool and bath house etc. I was told there was always weekly rates for $275 or daily rates, but no monthly which I could not figure out since there is always a spot. I think it's because they make a lot more if the charge weekly. My logic for asking is I want to park the RV in one spot and drive to places and return when I return. Any other ideas on other ways to do this month yearly thing besides RV parks?
Thanks

storage in summer will be hard on the unit. covered storage can be expensive.. why not live in AS full time or just rent a place in CA to live, check airbnb..
