Well, it's the ole Airstream FM guy. If you go to
the web site, it tells a short version of EZ music/Beautiful Music Radio. The station was conceived and developed by an Airstream buff and full-time Airstreamer, little ole me!! The web site has a photo of 'golden voice' Dave and I with the station we built back when we were both skinny in the late 1960s.
As online and music technology grew, I began to digitize my LP collection. I realized I might be able to "stream" this music online for other people. So it became first "Beautiful Music Radio" online. But I wanted another name for it, since BMR is a description of the music more than a name. Since the Airstream (1986 32' Argosy) was where the music was recorded/digitized and where it first went online, I chose the name Airstream FM.
The music was chosen because it is music I enjoy. And I wanted to be able to hear "my music" no matter where I was. Also, I know there are some Airstream mobile units for commercial stations. But how many radio stations were born in and actually operate from an Airstream full time?? I doubt there are any.
Also, Airstream FM plays no commercials. You will only hear music with a station break every 15 minutes.
Other than "Escape" on XM and a couple of other terrestrial staions, there are not many outlets for Mancini, Melachrino and Mantovani. So what started as a hobby has continued with listeners worldwide from over 100 countries.
FYI, I also had the first
Airstream history online, long before there was any information on the history of Airstream available online at all. There is plenty now, even from the Airstream company. But none of that existed when I started asking questions and the answers grew into
www.airstreamhistory.com Needless to say, I got busy with Airstream FM and with other projects while several people were more driven (O.C.D.) to expand their version of the Airstream History. As a result, there is plenty of info available now. But there wasn't in the mid-1990s.
I hope everyone enjoys the music.
