What are all these wires?

I was installing my new sink plumbing and decided to remove the lower panels to expose the furnace and whatever else might be down there.

Once removed I saw several heavy guage wires just laying on top of the heating unit. One of the wires had found its way into the fan cage

So what are they for? Some kind of cool option that I dont have?

Why would they just leave them laying around like that? I didnt check to see if they were live. I just taped off the ends and tie strapped them up so they wouldnt interfere with the furnace.

Im sure if the JC boys are reading this they are probably thinking that we Airforums people are just a bunch of whiners. Afterall its not like you can see it?!

Hey, you created an American icon.. we just want it right.

So... i picked up all your trash and secured the wiring.

any hints what its for??

High Vinnie?

Possibly solar pre-wire. They said ours had it, but it wasn't where it was supposed to be. After looking everywhere they suggested I gave up.

But like you....I got a chance to clean up all the debris, they shouldn't be allowed to spend their lunch hour on the line.

Don't worry about them reading this...there hasn't been a reply post on the town hall thread for quite some time... skeered 'em away.

Hmmm

Good question.. Maybe they were suppose to reach over to the entry/outside light switch. There is a panel there with and interior light switch too. Dont know.

There must be a reason othewise why would they run all those wires into the factory harness?

i'll be wondering with you. my wires like that go to an unlabeled switch with the lights. it doesn't seem to do anything. could it be for a fridge 12v option?

Ricky,

Is it a factory switch or something someone installed? I know I should have checked to see which one had power or ?? I would assume them all to be 12volt in nature since all the AC powered stuff is romax.

Maybe someone will stumble on this and say.. Hey I have the same wiring laying on top of the furnace and its all labeled!?

I know.. dreamin

it looks factory to me. it controlls the outside step light, the light over the lounge and the light over the galley aisle. the wires to the unlabeled switch are a heavy gauge and at least one of them is red. (i opened it up about 2 years ago.)
