Who loves their toilet?

I would like to replace our toilet with maybe ceramic. Would that add too much weight?

Cleaning plastic is difficult at least for me.

Help!

Yep! But technically get a porcelain one.

They install plastic because it is cheap. Unless you are carrying way too much stuff, a porcelain throne AND a wooden seat are things you'll quietly appreciate every time you use them.

Gosh yes porcelain not ceramic. We are full-timers so yes it would be added weight. So wonder what I need to do to compensate for the additional weight. How much would one weigh additionally?

I have a porcelain one in an SOB and it is an SOB. It does not wash the bowl out well. Not sure what brand it is but the washer jet is at the back and it does not do a great job of washing the sides of the bowl down with water. The plastic one in my 81 Excella II is better is that respect. Read reviews.

I’ll tell you who loves their toilet-my wife. When we’re traveling with the AS she never has to use any toilets but her own.

I’ve found that an occasional treatment with RainX make it easier to keep the plastic toilet clean. Never use an abrasive cleaner.

Buy it, weigh it once out of the box. Weigh the old one before you toss it, throw out the difference.

as far as I'm concerned the porcelain bowl is a lot easier to clean and and it has total around bowl flush (just like at home) not just a stream coming-out the back

Thetford Aqua-Magic II

Hi, before you order or buy a new Porcelain toilet, check the flange distance from the wall. In my Safari, the spacing was 9 1/2"s instead of the normal 11" or 12"s. Therefore I had to find one that would fit in the space, I also had to relocate the water supply line, but that was simple.

On our's, the seat is made out of a very thick solid plastic, which I like. Only complaint is that the seat gets cold.

We upgraded to the Dometic 320 elongated bowl toilet with sprayer hose and have never looked back. Well we did look back once to be sure it would fit.

I have the same problem with the flange distance on my 2007 25'FB. What brand and model number did you find that would fit in that tight space?

New Toilet

Over the years we have made many upgrades to our older 1994 Front Kitchen Excella... new wood vinyl veneer floors, a newer, better frig... a higher capacity AC unit, an "office" space large enough for a desk top computer, a stand alone Breville combination oven... but the best improvement was the elongated porcelain toilet as pictured previously... GO FOR IT!!

I checked the Thetford site and they only list ceramic toilets. Where do I find a porcelian?

Thetford shows the 42062 has the 9 1/2" off the wall to center of the drain.

Weight is 27 lbs. The old plastic one weighs next to nothing.

According to Amazon, about 13-15 lb difference between a Dometic plastic (300) and the Dometic porcelain (310). Equates to 2 gallons of water or cheap wine.

Our 2019 GT has a porcelain toilet, but the icky plastic seat. Replacing the seat is a cheap and easy fix. Hard to imagine the classic has a plastic toilet!

I too, recommend replacing with an elongated home style toilet. You might try coating the bowl with floor wax to ease cleaning while you are waiting for the change. We have done that in the past with good results.

And, use a soft close toilet seat/lid.

Great suggestions and I knew you would come through. We will upgrade the toilet in the spring. We do not do those replacements ourselves. Jackson's health is one that cannot lift more than 10-15 lbs and I prefer he lift less.

Thanks, BadKat
