Water Pump Sucking

Water pump newbie woes. 2021 Classic and first trip after dewinterizing.
Water pump gets power but doesn’t pull water and then feels very hot. Strainer compartment shows lots of air bubbling with almost no water. No pressure at any fixture, water pump continuously runs, freshwater tank at 95% and no city water hooked up. Winterizing valve on inlet side in correct orientation for “normal use”. Absolutely no joy. Any ideas appreciated.

If the bowl on the strainer has air bubbles you are sucking air from somewhere, most likely on the downstream side of it. The black swivel fittings on the strainer and pump are supposed to have a conical washer in them that can easily fall out during winterizing, that would be my guess. Also make sure the clear bowl in the strainer is tight and its washer is good. All these fittings only have to be hand tightened when they have good washers.--Frank

I guess I didn’t get all the water out of the lines (2017 FC25FB) when winterising - the clear strainer housing cracked enough that it wouldn’t seal any more. Used way too much electrical tape to seal the whole thing just to verify by having water pressure again and having the water pump actually turn off when its normal pressure was achieved. Bought a new part from Shurflo. Easy-Peasy. I’ll have to be more careful next time.
