I am the outside non birthing person of the trailer.
My wife is the inside birthing person of the trailer.
This is what I have heard as current roles of parents, whatever... I am a Neanderthal, not a Genius with terminology that changes with the calendar year. On is on. Off is off kind of guy or non birthing person.
Get OFF my Truck Hood... is an example. Get ON that pony... is another example. Pure, simple 'new' English is a learning experience that I am working "Upon or Downon". Anyways you figure it out.
I use many vowels like "Aaaaaaah Sh$t Wyoming is Windy all of the time". Get that slow moving awning moving while I am holding the Pony and Awning... kind of Neanderthal. (Hey... you are reading this. I just add some words, strung together to put you in the mood to follow instructions that are coming... soon.
My responsibility is everything that needs to be DONE on the outside, including hitch set up, brakes, water, black and grey tanks and checking anything that moves, gets dirty or needs to be refilled, like propane tanks... and tires, for example.
Nancy and I had a good Service Tech at the final walkthrough at an Airstream ONLY Dealership. He explained what NOT TO DO... TURNING THE AWNING CONTROL to OFF, once extended. There was something(s) you had to do if you made that mistake... we have not and I forgot the process to make this all work. Just follow the following instructions and this routine has worked for us. Flawlessly. So far.
When reading the correct routine, use a Birthing Person's voice. Not mine, which sounds like a Moose in Heat... but that is another bad example today that I can discuss if you like.
Just DO NOT TURN the awning control OFF when deployed. That is the square button with O F F in capital letters.
The fix might have been to hit Open and Close a number of times to get it completely to close and you are back to 'good'. This we have not needed to try... so it is your problem and you tell us how it worked out if you mess this up on your watch. Not ours.

Zip Dee Relax Awning by the Birthing Persona aka Inside Human Bean.
When we open the Zip Dee awning, the first thing I do is turn the switch from “off” to “on”. When I do that, the “status” light will blink for a few seconds and then the “closed” light will light. Once the closed light is lit, I will push the “open” button. When the awning is fully deployed, the “open” light will light. One thing the dealer conveyed during our walk-through when we purchased the trailer, is to NEVER turn the switch of the awning to “off” when the awning is extended. Always leave the switch on “on”. If you don’t, the awning forgets what position it is in. We have never used the “reset” button and, so far, the awning has operated flawlessly.
