IMHO, The solution is a firm, full size queen mattress. But, my experience is limited and I have no vote in spending your money.

Good luck with the research. It is a worthy effort. Pat

We got a 2” Queen memory foam topper from CostCo and it's great! Very comfortable. Had to trim the corners, round ‘em some to fit snugly under the fitted mattress sheet and over the mattress - works out very well. I think we spent in the neighborhood of $125 +/-, maybe a bit more.

Beats the heck out of what we spent on the Tempur-Pedic at home...

Thumbs up

I have installed and used the 2in ( or is it 3") topper from Costco. Great solution at a great price.

Last trip out for Thanksgiving traveling we went with a $140 w/ coupon memory foam topper from _Ikea_... the second night using it we hunted down a truck-stop 12V heated throw to thaw that foam for 30 minutes before jumping in otherwise it is as hard as sawdust, then goes too soft underneath while cold and hard just inches away. Seems it only gets truly comfortable for the last 5 minutes before getting up in mornings. Kinda wishing we'd shopped harder, didn't think of Costco...

All memory (Viscoelastic) foam is pretty much the same. Basically there is 2 firmnesses 2 pound and 5 pound, 5 being the firmest. Both however become very soft when warm and hard when cold. I find after my body heats the foam I am laying on goes soft the surrounding area remains firm. Feels like laying in a depression. If I roll over I get the sensation of rolling out of a pocket. The thicker the foam the worse the feeling.

New to this site. But I just had to do roughly the same thing. I layered two 2" sheets of memory foam and it worked for me (I'm a big guy 6'2" 220).
Purchased 2x6 sections for $4.50 each. I went to the store www.a1foamandfabrics.com and picked out what I needed. I am sure you must have a similar store close to you.

I just bought a cheap egg crate type foam topper from Wal-Mart and trimmed it. I like it.

My wife found the standard Airstream mattress too firm so she bought a memory foam topper from Costco (about 2 1/2 inches thick as I recall). This has turned out to be one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in - love t. As Jaxon above mentioned, we had to trim the corners to properly fit - no trouble at all.

Same as the majority. Costco topper, a bit of trimming, put it on the bed 2 years ago...can't do better!

I got the one on sale this week at Costco the last time it was on sale and my wife loves it. Due to the RVs queen size being smaller I bought a full size pad instead. Did not need to trim it at all and only lost about an inch 1/2 on each side. I sleep on the edge of my beds and don't notice it. Also, saved 20 bucks.

We have tried the Costco memory foam and did not care for it at all, For the same reasons as Naper, post #6. Never again will I buy memory foam.
I did try a friends organic latex mattress topper, loved it.
Organic latex is all natural it comes in different (densities/firmness's) and thickness's and is anti-microbial, hypo-allergenic, dust mite resistant, anti-fungal and very durable. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
We ordered one for the Airstream, it is so comfortable we had to get one for the house as well.
