Looking for New mattresses

We own a 29' /1990 EXCELLA with twin beds in the rear. We are looking to replace our mattresses. Does any body have any suggestions where to buy a good mattress?

We replaced our twin bunk mattresses on a 2011 Flying Cloud Airstream (wife said they were too hard) with very nice comfortable replacements from Mattress Insider in Little CO for ~ $750. You can spend more or spend less. We like the the thick foam.

Last time I was at JC they had a display in their store with the various grades of mattresses. Suggest you give them a call - ask for Amy.

We've purchased mattresses for two prior Airstreams from:

Memory Foam Mattress | Custom Mattress | Adjustable Bed | Custom Made Mattress | Latex Bed

Happy with the quality on both occasions. They will custom cut the mattress to the desired shape and dimensions.

We have a 93 29' Excella with twin beds. We went to a local mattress company that does custom work. We "test drove" mattresses on the showroom floor, chose what we liked, had them made and couldn't be happier.

We have twins also. My husband is 6'4" tall and was way too long for the bed. I am shorter at 5'2" and fit just fine. We bought a new 2009 Classic twin. I went to the Original Mattress Factory to order new, better by far mattresses for our Classic. The made for my husbands side, is wall to wall, and now he sleeps comfortably and fits!! Just regular twin, extra long sheets fir fine on the mattress, as does the waterproof mattress pad. I took a long sheet of brown paper and traced the mattress and added both width and length to the drawing to make sure we got the mattress we wanted for my husband.
I stored the original mattresses, all the coverings, too many pillows and asked Airstream why they did not offer mattress upgrades rather than the cheap accessories that we never used. No answer.
Hopes this helps.

We also purchased a foam double size from a factory foam store and hand cut it to fit. They offered several grades of foam including memory foam. Suggest you go with at least 8 inches thickness. Our mattress came with a zippered cover also

Beds are a pretty personal thing. We have a Sleep Number bed at home and could not be happier.
The Interstate Lounge EXT is queen sized when fully deployed but we use two cot sized 6"infused foam mattresses (30x74). They are more manipulable and easier to store.

We are VERY happy with this brand. Firm but responsive, lighter weight. Free shipping and 5 year warranty. They have all other sizes, too.

It is worth noting that the twins on my '87 Excella are narrower that normal twins, but longer (almost the length of queen). I went into Walmart and bought, for each bed, one queen fitted sheet, one twin flat sheet & one matching pillowcase. I cut the queen on one side and made it fit the AS bed, including the rounded corner, and added elastic to make it fit as well. All this with an old Elna Lotus sewing machine I picked up at an estate auction for $35.

We purchased a new queen from Rocky Mountain Mattress and are very happy with it. You might see if they have twin mattresses.

We have Tempur-Pedic beds at home ,so we bought 3 inch Tempur-Pedic toppers to put over the matresses that came with our 2015 FC 20ft. One was full/double size for the main bed, the other a twin size for the convertable dinette "bed". We dont use the dinette - its a full time bed. The full topper on the main bed is a bit wide but we roll the edge up to create a barrier against the cold aluminum skin. The toppers are pricey about $200, but worth it to us.

We bought a queen size custom made memory foam mattress from www.MattressInsider.com for our Airstream. We liked it so much, we bought a standard size queen for home. Great company to work with.

Just bought a new custom size mattress from Handcraft Mattress Company in Ft. Lauderdale. They are the best. We had them make 2 different ones for our yachts in the past. May be a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for. Check their website and call them.
