Discoloration to bathroom cabinets
We have a 2001 Excella 30'er and I have found that the cabinetry in our bathroom closest to the bowl show some signs of discoloration and oxidation on the cabinet handles. The cabinets are oak and the lacquer finish had appeared to be eaten away and the pulls on the drawers nearby are oxidized and discolored green. They were a brass finish drawer pulls. Last year my wife decided to paint the cabinets and replace the hardware. I sanded all the cabinetry and primed it and painted using Behr interior satin enamel. It's a primer & paint All in one. I replaced the hardware using (what I thought was stainless). Now, a year later we see a yellow discoloration to the white paint, again to the cabinets closest to the bowl and a bubbling to the finish of the pulls. Obviously they are not stainless but rather some other metal with a coating.
So, my question comes down to WHY ??? I suspect sewer gasses are being released from the black tank down below. I had the bowel out a few months ago and replaced the upper seal. It had been leaking down the sealing water so I replaced it. Not sure if the gasses can still be coming but the seal seems to be holding water.
Got any ideas ??? ThanX all. Stay virus free and lets all get back on the road

Not 100% sure, could be a number of factors including environment and where you guys are camping and humidity in the trailer as well as how the surface is cleaned and with which chemical. After you painted, did you seal it with any lacquer or anything to protect the paint/finish?

We did not apply any topcoat to the paint. I was just today wondering if that would work. We put the same cabinet pulls on all off the bath cabinets but only the two on drawers closest to the bowl show this. Same with the original brass finished ones. The ones farther away show no discoloration. I had never thought about a clear finish over the paint before.

Urine splatter is doing the damage. 20 years of it takes its toll.

ThanX for the input. Hadn't thought of that. I will take it under advisement. But I am interested in the thought of a clear topcoat to the paint job. I took the drawers and front panel insert out to re-paint. Need to do the lower cabinet also and would be interested in a clear topcoat to finish it if I can.
ThanX again for the input.

cabinet discoloration
The primer finish you used is acrylic. The original lacquered cabinets might be bleeding through. Some times you need a stain
n blocking primer, then top coat.
