I am not being critical, only observational, but when you get it repaired, add a back-up camera. Seriously.

Oh no! What a distressing thing to happen and it only takes a few seconds!
But that's what insurance is for and they can do wonders at JC if you are going there for the repairs.
All the best!

Second photo . . . backed into roof overhang probably . . . at a fairly decent rate of speed IMO.

Speaking very personally . . . and IMO . . . if I had done this damage [at home presumably?], I would question whether it was time to stop towing a trailer altogether.
Recognition of one's own devolution is a tough nut to crack . . .
Good luck, Chrishall.

Airstream is in the shop and will be fixed as good as new. After retiring from an accident and incident free aviation career of 44 years. I assure you I have the ability to tow a trailer.
Accidents will happen, if you haven’t had yours you will and when you do I wish you all the best.

Ouch and sorry for your bad luck.
Tired happens. And once upon a time for me it used to be an inconvenience. Now it is a warning. I take breaks every two hours period. I also do not eat anything and drink my coffee black. Who here has pulled off and taken a two hour nap when only 50 miles from home? Before my accident, I would not have... and I can think of at least one other long time member who went a few miles too far and totalled her rig.
The REALLY LUCKY AIrstreamer is one who has a spouse/companion who acts as a spotters - for landmarks and for a.driver at.less than 100%. When soloing it is particularly hard to do the backup routine in tight quarters without jumping.in and out of the truck six times. Easy to be an optimist.
I DID add a backup camera, and heartily endorse it. Truthfully though, it scares me to see how some folks tailgate. I would sometimes like to have a little James Bond rocket launcher in the trunk of my trailer. Imagine the tailgater needing an adult diaper!

Crunch
We’re sorry this happened to you. Thanks for being bold enough to share the experience, from which all of us can learn, even those of us who might sound a bit judgmental in our responses.

If I posted something this brutal about a total stranger over what was simply an accident, I would question whether it was time to move away from the keyboard.

I’m all for back up cameras but I feel they can lull you into a false sense of security.
I put down wheel chocks on a small mark for my final position.
Also, even though I’ve backed into my driveway, through a gate and s-curve into my RV pad easily over 100 times, I still GOAL early and often every time.
(Get Out And Look).
Accidents happen, mistakes happen, fortunately learning can happen as well. I do everything I can to keep these lessons inexpensive.

There's no support ribs in there, so it doesn't take much.
I feel your pain.
It also will remind me to look again as I back up.
So your crunch was not in vain.

We all make OOPS actions once in awhile. Good thing is that nobody was injured and the only thing besides the trailer being hurt is a little pride. One more reason to have the betterr half guide you back. Now you will find out if your insurance is really good. Chin up, it could have been a lot worse!!

I think there is a backup camera on the license plate. Perhaps it needs to be higher.
