my 1992 airstream excella the 15 ft. awning heard a loud pop and now wont retract, my question is can it be repaired keeping awning material ( hard to find ) or have to replace it all fabric and tube assy. looks like water got into tube rusted it and broke it has rusty water dripping from tube. thanks in advance oh and it is a zip dee awning
Yes, it can be repaired. The spring and mechanism slides into the steel tube from the end. Look on the Zip dee site for a sketch of the parts. Held in with some pop rivets that need to be drilled. You may not even have to take the tube out of the awning fabric. There is a good bit of spring tension involved if this is a do it yourself repair. Maybe $250 for the part? It has been a while since I did mine. Last time I called Zip Dee they would not sell me a part direct. Before that they did.
