2020 Atlas Awning doesn’t completely retract

Hi All,
We have a 2020 Atlas and the awning doesn’t retract fully. In the fully retracted position, the rear sticks out about a half inch. The front seems to fit snuggly. After discussions with Carefree of Colorado and email correspondence, Airstream has added a spacer on the awning arm brackets that don’t allow for any downward pitch adjustment. Which according to Carefree of Colorado customer service would be the first thing to try to adjust. Does anyone else have this problem, have you resolved it? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kim

Adjustment on awning

First extend the awning about 3 inches and then retract it. Try that a few times.

Second there are adjustment allen nuts to adjust the in and out. Be careful they are plastic. Download the file from Carefree for directions. There is also an adjustment for the pitch.

Don't play with arms unless you can't make it work any other way.

I have tried extending and retracting several times. No difference noted. I have been in contact with Carefree and they sent diagrams and said the first thing to try would be adjusting the pitch with the Allen screw. However, apparently Airstream has put in a spacer Instead of using the Allen screw. With the spacer in there and the Allen screw almost all the way out, there is no way to adjust the pitch downward which is what it appears to need because the flange on the top of the lead rail is at a different angle that the grove on the casing that it should fit into. have also called Airstream and sent them pictures but have yet to hear back

One of the Admins has been moving the awning discussions from Airstream Forums > Airstream Knowledgebase > Airstream Motorhome Forums > Sprinter and B-van Forum

. . .to this obscure subforum:
Airstream Forums > Airstream Restoration, Repair & Parts Forums > Exterior Restoration Forum > Awnings

Please stop doing this as these awning threads have NOTHING to do with Exterior Restoration and will get lost to other Interstate and B-van owners.

Any word on the awning yet?

I just noticed your post that said you were waiting to hear from Airstream. Did they reply? Did you get the problem resolved?

Thanks.

Kimarine....

Appreciate your post. I too, have a 2020 Atlas with exactly the same issue. Been making adjustments to the in/out motor limits and arm elbows per carefree service manual to no avail.

I will submit my issue with Airstream customer service to reinforce the need for a remedy.

Thank you,
Douglas
