Help with heater.

Hi.
I'm a brand new newbie; never had a trailer, never camped. Was rushed thru an orientation and didn't absorb much. I have a 2018 16' Sport and am camping in a dry spot. So my understanding is my batteries should give me one night, maybe two with ability to heat the trailer. I've got the propane on but I have no lights, no furnace comes on, no fan? What am I missing? Is there a switch to go to battery power?
Thanks, Jack

You need to get at the very least a volt/ohm meter to see if your batteries are good. Yes you have a switch by the door to turn on the electrical for the trailer. If your jack works you have some power. You can not run your furnace all nite or you will run the batteries down too low. The batteries power the fan which is a big hog of your avail power. Use the furnace sparingly after you figure out the electrical problem.

Welcome! there are questions to ask before giving you options.

How are batteries charged?

Have you familiarize with heater by reading the manual?

Know the limits of the batteries?

Powering the fridge with propane?

We will give you good answers after we know your answers.

Yeah, was only planning to run the heater one nite off batteries. So far not finding a switch that turns on power. The batteries have power...as discussed the power tongue jack works fine. Will keep looking. Thanks

Let's see:
My understanding is the batteries charge up when I'm plugged into shore power.
Supposedly the fan and propane heater work with both shore power and, for a short time, battery power.
Yes, fridge is propane powered.

I don't have a 16' Sport but I assume you have a use/store switch by the door.?? Have you checked the batteries with a volt meter to see what kind of readings you get ? You need to do this when the trailer is not plugged into power.

I've not found a use/store switch by the door. Not inside or outside. Batteries were at 16% so that may be the issue.

Hopefully you are back from camping and can address the problem. First thing is to get the batteries fully charged and see if they will hold a charge. Most likely they are shot. Lead acid batteries should not be discharged more than 50% ie aout 12.2 volts. They may survive one or two times being not cared for. They may have been ruined at the dealer prior to your purchase.

Hopefully your dealer will take care of you. Also make sure you get a user manual to get familiar with your trailer.

the switch is not like clicking it on/off but a knob to turn to store or use. its under the dining table and the seat by the counter. you will see it. I used to have 2017 Bambi 16. it was a little annoying to reach under the table to turn the power on or store mode on or off.

Check your 2018 Sport Owners Manual on page 5-7 see the image of the knob?
