Bahia Honda State Park is about 35miles from Key West...it has the best beach in the Keys...
Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge is just west of Bahia Honda...never stayed but I hear good things about the campground...it is on the water...I hear that the sites are close and the interior roads are narrow so they spot your rig...also pets are not welcome because the Key Deer roam through the campground...
Heading farther away from Key West is Curry Hammock State Park (54 miles) and then Long Key State Park (65 miles). Curry has a nice beach and nice sites. The sites at Long Key are right on the water...not much of a beach and the water is not good for wading, but the view from your AS can't be beat.
There are other campgrounds in the Keys but these are our favorite ones that are near Key West...John Pennekamp State Park is another nice park, but it is in Key Largo which is just over 100 miles from Key West...
You will have difficulty getting reservations in the Keys this close to March but with a little luck you might pick-up a cancellation...

I agree with the above recommendations, but you should have made reservations about one year in advance. You may find a cancellation, but these usually come at the last minute and you'll be lucky to find one. You'll need to go to the Florida State website everyday...maybe several times a day..to snag one. Another possibility are the few private campgrounds..Sunshine Key comes to mind. Very nice and maybe 10-20 miles from Key West, however very pricey. As I recall, $125-$150 per night.
