Heading to Key West/Any Ideas?

Were leaving for Florida soon for work but will have a few extra days for fun to travel between Orlando and Key West. Anyone have any fun places to stay or see? Is the Airstream Ranch still there or is there a campground to stay at with Airstreams or vintage trailers for rent? Trying to stay away from Disney world and places like that. Thanks for any help, Doug, Jan and Ben.

Don't avoid Fort Widerness. Though it is a WDW property the campground is first class. But if you are looking for something more primitive, try Camp Inn on US 27 south of Lake Wales.

Thanks Taylor, We will have to check out fort wilderness, it sounds like the Airsteam ranch is still there so we want to stop there.

Is there any remote beaches or other fun stops south of the Kenedy Space Center?
Thanks

South of Titusville (Kennedy Space Cntr), you can find a couple of beaches/campgrounds. Sebastian Beach is fun and has a campground too that sits on a island between the river and ocean. Also, Longpoint campground, is just south of Sebastian, and is small but you can rent kyacks, etc. Both are very reasonable to get into.
Also, if you go thru West Palm Beach is Lion Country Safari with a wonderful KOA on the property. We were there just last week and had a wonderful time, especially listening to the lions roar in the morning! The campground was wonderful, very clean, with dog park and heated pool.
Call them because they have some great specials going. We got 3 nights and 2 tickets (one for each day) to the Park for $125, soooo worth it!
On your way from Kennedy going south, stop by Port Canaveral and have lunch or dinner at Grills in Port Canaveral by all the Cruise Ships...good food, lots to watch!
Enjoy your trip, BUT bring clothes for all types of weather...welll, maybe not snow!
