Cleaning vinyl coated aluminum...

What is the best cleaning solution to clean and not damage the vinyl coated aluminum interior?

Same question about the plastic front/rear endcaps.

Thanks!

Early Dawn

I just used Dawn detergent and warm water and a soft brush. The vinyl coated aluminum panels are pretty indestructible and it's a good thing because that sticky coating does not come off easily. The plastic end caps however can be a bit fragile, so be gentle with them.

What is that sticky coating? I don't think anyone knows and it does come back.

I personally think the sticky feeling is just cooking oil that condenses on the surface

We use Method cleaner, Magic Eraser (lite formula version), bamboo paper towels, hot water wipe on the walls. Spray, allow to soak on surface, magic eraser, then bamboo towel wetted in hot water.

The "sticky coating" is actually the vinyl wallcovering off-gassing and deteriorating. Then the stickiness attracts airborne "gunk"....early plastics at their best! Once the vinyl is thoroughly cleaned, it can be coated with clear Future/Pledge floor finish. It helps to encapsulate the vinyl and keep the stickiness at bay.

Krud Kutter mixed with warm water will take off the stickiness. A light coat of Mop n Glo or Future liquid wax will keep the stickiness from returning.
