Laminate Painting
You may regret your initial choice of products depending on the which cabinet paint you chose. But... before you begin painting you need to be quite finicky about the pre-painting cleanse that removes grease and other minute particulate materials from the laminate. Wash with TSP (trisodium phosphate) and wet sand before starting the primer coat.
The best combination - use a urethane-reinforced acrylic paint, such as INSL-X Cabinet Coat. While it is more expensive than ordinary acrylic-latex paints, the urethane-reinforced products have better hiding abilities and will stick better to problems surfaces. Cabinet Coat is designed to adhere to plastic, metal, and urethane surfaces without a primer, but laminate and melamine surfaces require sanding before painting and a primer.
The alternative approach is to apply a 100 percent acrylic, flash-bond primer, such as XIM (Rust-Oleum), Bullseye 1-2-3 (Zinnser), or Fresh Start (Benjamin Moore), followed by two coats of satin or semi-gloss enamel paint followed two coats of clear acrylic sealer. Personally, I'd recommend Dulux Trade Super Primer as the initial bonding primer.
