Override furnace fan

I have been thinking about summertime air circulation in my 2014 23D and I had the idea of putting a SPDT “on/on” switch on my furnace blower/fan power wire where in position 1 the normal thermostat controls would work and in position 2 I could override the thermostat and allow the fan to run when I would like. This would allow me to run my AC while at the beach and also run the furnace fan to help move air around the trailer through the ducts.

I know it would add noise and I’m ok with that, but I think it would definitely help with cooling the trailer.

What do you guys think? Has anyone done this or do I need to apply for a patent?

Why don't you just get a small fan? It will probably be quieter than the furnace fan and will move the air more effectively.

The furnace blower would suck in warm air from outside. ( I think ?????) A regular table top fan might be a better solution

I presume you are looking for a 12V solution to use when shore power is not available. Otherwise you could use the fan in your AC.

The furnace fan only circulates inside air. It is noisy, however.

There are some nice small fans that run off USB. If your trailer has USB outlets, you could use them. If it has cigarette lighter sockets, you could get 12V to USB adapters.

Fantastic Vent (now part of Dometic?) makes a fan like a small window fan that runs from 12 volts using a cigarette lighter plug. I have one on my boat. It does a great job.

I was thinking along the lines of one less thing to carry and being that the furnace was ducted it would “pump” cool air around the trailer better like in the bathroom and bedroom area

How did it work out for you? Looking at it for more cooling but would work great for heating also

Works well, all these years later. Whether for even heat distribution or cool air distribution.

Noisy, doesn't move much air, and runs the battery down much faster than most portable fans. A 12v automobile fan works very well for us.
