Morty the Globetrotter

Good morning Air Forums!

My wife and I are soon to be Airstream owners and are pretty excited to begin our travels.

We are purchasing a used 2020 Globetrotter 25" from Colonial and should be picking it up in 3-4 weeks.

We currently have a 20 year old Fleetwood popup trailer that we have used to make our annual trip to the Assateague Island area. We are now retired (public school teachers for the past 30 years...Ossining, NY) and are ready to start traveling more extensively.

Upon retirement, we moved from busy Westchester County, NY to a more rural lifestyle, purchasing a nice home in Hillsdale, NY (Columbia County) on five acres with a lovely pond for swimming.

We have two dogs who will always be traveling with us.

We will be towing our Airstream with a 2007 Tundra 5.7L double cab.

I do a lot of cycling, about 100 miles per week outdoors, year round.

I also own a rather rare 1984 BMW R80ST motorcycle that I enjoy riding around on the country roads surrounding our home.

Despite having a strong aversion to naming things like vehicles and bicycles, our trailer was named "Morty" by the previous owner and I kind of like it.

I've been busy reading and learning...there is a lot of both to do.

Can't wait to get started!

Hello from Colorado: Welcome to the Airstream owner's community. Congratulations on your retirement and acquisition of a late model Globetrotter. I believe you will enjoy it very much.

I spent last winter renovating my son's 1969 Globe Trotter 21'. It was two words back then, but the Globetrotter name has been around Airstream since the 1950s. 1969 was the first year of the new body style and the first year of the "wing windows" in front. It was our view that the floor layout of this 69 Globe Trotter wasn't the best and we modified it quite a bit. It is not a big roomy trailer, but it is quite functional for shorter trips.

Welcome to the GT Club!

SPP, welcome to the Globetrotter Club! Our Cairn Terrier travels with us as well. When we take the bikes camping he rides along in a converted Burley kids trailer.

You’ll wake up pinching yourselves after sleeping in the pop-up!

Consider joining the WBBCI club; the 2022 International Rally is out your way in Maine. Hope to see you there.

-Jeff

P.S.:I’m envious of your BMW motorcycle; always like the flat engine design.

Well, here it is camping season and we are getting ready to put our Globetrotter to use!

We will be spending a week on the NJ shore for the first week of June, coming home for about 5 days, then spending another week in Cape Cod.

really looking forward to getting out there in our new home on wheels!
