Question Floor repair under toilet in '67 Caravel

I bought a '67 Caravel last October in as is condition. This spring, could not get dump valve to work so I took it to Windish RV (Denver, CO). They could not get it to work either, but recommended I pull the access covers from the underside for visual inspection, etc. I pulled the two rear access covers, to find a rotted floor under the toilet/holding tank area. Since I am new at this, I am asking for recommendations on what to do. Also, the fiberglass in the bathroom is in far less than great shape, and the shower floor has been replaced and patched in with tub/tile caulk - looks kind of sloppy. Does the interior need to be disassembled to get the fiberglass bathroom lining out, to accomplish floor repairs? Then the insulation above the access panels was wet (not good). So I have corrosion issues with the aluminum too. It looks like it will be difficult to keep this undercarriagge dry. Anyway, if texts are available on repair methods for this trailer, that would be helpful. By the way, the dump value still does not work. I'd like to use this trailer, rather than have a huge disassembly and repair job this summer, but first things first. Thanks in advance.

Your course of action depends on how severe the damage is and how ambitious and capable you are. Without seeing pics, it sounds to me like you have a fair amount of disassembly ahead of you to get at the rotten floor area. There may be more decay underneath, affecting the positioning of the black water tank. To my dismay, I am working on a similar project right now on my '64 Globetrotter, replacing the black water tank and remounting the toilet.

Best wishes, and sorry I don't have better news for you,

...Ray

For meaning answers we need pic's.

The short answer is to fiberglass the floor as a temporary fix and replace the rotted floor off season.

Congrats on the purchase of your '67 Caravel and welcome to the forums!

You have come to the right place for answers. As LI Pets has indicated, photos would help. In the meantime, check out this threads for an idea of the work involved with removing the shell of the trailer to replace the floor.
