Money down on a 2019 FC 28RBT - are we ok?
Found a 2019 FC 28RBT at our local dealer and put money down today.
Price: $77k minus $1k cash back due to AS end-of-year promo (that 77k is 20% off MSRP) Seems to be inline with other reports on this forum.
Built in Dec 2018, tried to push for dealer to throw in a free hitch but they wouldn't budge. We'll likely get a couple months of free storage and I pushed for new batteries. Picking it up this weekend!

Test EVERY system before accepting. And then start the shakedown campout. Enjoy.

Welcome to the forum and to Airstreaming!
Sounds like a good deal. Have you thought about joining the AS Club?
Wishing you all the best!

Didn't even know there was an AS Club (though not surprised.) Haven't thought about it. This is our first AS, we're total noobs in that department although we've owned a trailer before.
Now shopping for a hitch! With our SOB of similar size/weight I used a harbor freight WDH + sway bars, never any problems. Thinking of going with Equalizer this time.

I've bought a lot of stuff from Harbor Freight over the years, but I didn't know they sold a WD/AS hitch. Not that I need one, it just goes to show I probably need to be more observant.

Seems like good deal based on cost of our 2015 28’ Intnl.
Good idea to have someone experienced set up your hitch to make sure it is done right.

I bought my Equalizer hitch off of Craig's list. When I took it to the dealer they didn't want to install it. We compromised on my paying one hour labor and they installed the trailer part. I thought that was fair.
However, WD hitches are very customizable, and I've changed that original setup several times. Learn how the hitch works and you'll feel good about adjustments.

Sounds like a good deal. Congratulations! You have already found a great source of information and camping opportunities (here) but also check out the Wally Byam Airstream Club.
https://airstreamclub.org/
They are a great group of people; you can connect with folks in your area and all over the country to camp. They sponsor rallies (typically weekends) and caravans (two weeks to several months); we have met some good friends on both.
If you Facebook there are numerous groups on there as well.
I used an Equalizer for two years on a Safari 25 and a year on a Classic 30. Never a problem with sway or push from passing traffic. I traded to a Propride, but for logistical reasons - easier for me to handle the Propride stinger than the Equalizer hitch head when connecting and disconnecting.

First off Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the group. We have a 2015 28 RBT and love it.
If interested, I have a Equalizer hitch sitting in my garage I no longer use. Used It for about a year and then went to a ProPride hitch so it's just sitting around. Happy to sell it to you at a good price. I'm in Waxahachie, so a little drive but not that far. Would be willing to meet half way if interested. Let me know.

Thats not bad if thats the dealer I think it is in Buda?? They are tighter then anyone else, from my experience. I bought my last two new AS's in CA, with 22% discount...also got the hitch, Fiama bike rack thrown in along with a starter kit, but took some negotiating. (starter kit=hoses, chocks, chemical, etc..)
As for the 28', not sure if this is your first AS? We had 3 25's and purchased our currant 2017 28'FC twin 2.5 years ago, new also. Love the layout, but the cushions in the L-couch are not comfortable to lounge on for long periods...we end up pulling out the sleeper board and taking a dinnete cushion to extend the lounge. Density of the foam is the issue...we are looking at different foam, but have not done it yet. We did go to Jackson Center in October and had some warranty work along with enhancments (added porthole window in bathroom door- wife thing).. that was a pleasent experience and highly recommend you consider that trip, if you have any issues down the road. Congratulations and enjoy! (PM me if you have any questions we can help with; we live just on fringe of Austin SW.)
BTW- we use Blue Ox Sway Pro, with 1500# bars; our actual tongue weight was 1100 when we took to scales..be aware the Mfg. spec numbers are not accurate.

Sounds like a deal to me.
I just put a down payment on a 2019 25RBT with the cost of $71,065. I wasn't planning on buying until the summer, but couldn't pass up the savings.

Good price and good unit. We have a 2018 FC 28RBQ. Also good call on new batteries. My originals were shot. Dealer replaced after our first trip and they have been ok. I use a Blue Ox Sway Pro w/ 1500# bars as that is what my dealer included with my purchase. I am happy with it, but many good products out there. That is one heck of a Christmas present. Enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! (And silverlabs thanks for the offer on the hitch.)
Will likely go with a Blue Ox 1500 based on online reviews. Dealer prices are $1k but I can get it for about 500 online.
It is indeed our first AS. Yes, purchased in Buda, they have a 'lifetime warranty' through a 3rd party company. IME these warranties are worth what one paid for it

Understand about the dealer pricing on the hitch...I have been able to finagle the hitch down to $500/installed by pushing the sales guy and his manager before signing final paperwork. Not sure where you are, but worth a discussion if you still can swing the time. Good luck with everything and again, congratulations!

Equalizer hitch for sure. The best system IMHO. Make sure that you have a person who is expert with the Equalizer brand install and set it up for you. AS dealers quite often have someone who is guessing do the work. I've been through this twice. You might want to view the Equalizer company's YouTube instructions before you witness the installation.
