Thumbs down Canadian Airstream Dealer Msrp

I was in contact with a western Canadian dealer (Traveland) located in BC. Their suggested MSRP is over 258k (https://www.airstreamoftraveland.net...Max_years=2021).
I have confirmed with a western sales manager that the Canadian MSRP is actually $1000.00 less then an American MSRP for the same trailer. This is due to fact no Airstream Connect if offered at this time to Canadians.

This dealer also doesn’t know their cost of the unit on the lot, they pay duty taxes and charge customers this. When they seek the trailer it gets returned by CCRA. Their best price on a 2020 Classic 33’FB was $208,000.00 thousand dollars plus applicable taxes. Unless you want to give a dealer an extra $40,000.00 dollars I would stay away from Travland dealership in British Columbia Canada. Duties paid are returned at time of sale, so the cost to a dealer is the extra Canadain Certification required, deliver charges are all the same throughout North America, and the cost of the exchange rate at time the trailer crosses the boarder.
In closing, a Canadian dealer should know especially their sales manager what an actually cost of any trailer is on their lot.
After talking to a few us based dealers, I can purchase the same trailer for $132,00 US dollars, plus exchange rate and taxes I pay to return to Canada my final cost is $200,376.00. Compared to the Traveland cost of over 239,000.00 after taxes. I will save the $39,000.00 by purchasing directly from the US dealer.

I am in BC (not dealt with Traveland), I'm curious what the cost of Canadian Certification will be if you purchase directly from the USA?

What is “Canadian Certification”?

I’ve placed a deposit for a 2022 28 RBT in the U.S. and in the Bill of Sale, they state that they will provide paperwork required to import trailer into Canada. Not sure if this Canadian Certification/Compliance.

No this is not the Canadian Certification/Compliance. The paperwork they give you, Vehilce Import Form, is needed to get past the US and Canadian Border agents. It ensures that you are not bringing a stolen trailer across the border.

You will need to go through the RIV inspection process, Register of Imported Vehicles, once you get it home. The cost is $325.00. After inspection, RIV will send you a Canadian Statement of Compliance (SOC) label with instructions on where to affix it to the trailer.

Failure to pass the RIV inspection process within the specified time (45 days I think), will make the trailer non-compliant. The importer will receive written notification, outlining fines and penalties under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act, and order that the vehicle must be removed from Canada.

It is pretty painless though, you can have your RIV inspection done at any Canadian Tire Store.
