Is it possible to fulltime in an Airstream with 2 great danes and a shepadoodle?
My husband and I will have 2 great dane puppies and a doodle. We strongly want to go full time in our 88 Excella 1000 32foot. Is this even a possibility?

Sure! Give the pooches 10' - you still got a 22 footer.
You can make that work if you want to! [emoji3]
Good luck!

I don’t think so.

Depends on how much you love those dogs, but anything is possible. I’d love to watch the faces of neighboring campers as you all pile out of the trailer!

That really depends more on you than the dogs. Do you go camping with them in the Airstream? How does that go? Would you want to live like that all the time?
We have two dogs full time in our 27' (albeit 45 and 65 lbs) and we're perfectly comfortable. With an extra 5', the dogs could almost have their own room.

I wouldn't want to spend more than about 3 days in a trailer at a time with three dogs that large. They won't be comfortable. I wouldn't be comfortable.

If you have to ask can it be done, then maybe you should wait to see how full timing goes first. In your post you said that you WILL HAVE 3 dogs. Do you already have the puppies? When will you be getting the puppies? Are you full timing now? How long have you been full timing? I would suggest full timing for several months or years or even yearsbefore you think about adding additional family members. Great Dane puppies grow up to be very sweet, gentle, wonderful but very large. What’s going to happen to those puppies when you decide they are just too big for your new life style? Can it be done, sure. Just depends on how cozy you want to be in 3OO square feet, which is more like 27 square feet of walkable space. Do you want to travel and sightsee or walk 3 large dogs 3 times a day, every day? I am not anti dog. I travel solo with 2 small dogs, both under 20 pounds, in a Classic and tried full timing for 6 months. It wasn’t for me.

Well said, Lauri.
Dreamnsilver, Airstream dreams can be strong and seem very appealing, but one must know one’s self very well in order to answer your questions IMO.
Is the plan you sketched out do-able for you?
You might want to learn to crawl with all your variables, before you undertake running a marathon.
IMO
If things work out at the beginning you can step on the accelerator. If the early stages are rough and rocky, however, it will be hard to apply the brakes if you are already full-timing.
Good luck and have fun!
Peter

It’s pretty easy to figure that out for yourself. Try putting an inflatable bed near your kitchen and try to approximate the small living quarters by boxing off a similar sized space. Then, when you take the dogs out in the morning and evening, only do so with a leash never letting them run free as that’s not cool at parks and campgrounds. If you are still good after two months then you know your parameters.
We have a GErman Shepard and a Lab, both around 65. We fit just fine for weekends but learned some things worth relating:
1) When everyone is wet and muddy, keeping the trailer clean is a real challenge. What will you do with 3 large dogs? They still need walking even in the bad weather and there is no mud room to decompress in.
2) The dog water bowl will get kicked by you or the dogs given the limited floor space. Go with the one that has a small tank on top gravity feeding the bowl.
3) the crew cab pickup is perfect for traveling. We have the dogs behind us. It should settle 3 fine. Ford is the only one, except for the mega Ram, that has a totally flat floor.
4) you will need crates from time to time and plan space for folding ones in the bed of the pickup. Otherwise you could use the clamshell plastic ones and nest them. Those may give larger interior spaces but are more of a pain to assemble.
Advice: if you don’t already have them, understand this is your chance to cut back. If you have them, you will find a way but it’s a particular lifestyle.

Yes, you could. . .
Yes, you could get a tent for you and your wife to sleep in and the dogs can sleep in the AS. Easy!

Sure
I think anything is possible with an Airstream. Drive to the shuttle, Sell hotdogs at the park, Support 3 dogs and 2 people. Best is to keep dogs pulling the trailer and then save in gas to feed the dogs.
ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IS DONE IN AN AIRSTREAM.
Just a reminder that a family with 7 kids lived in an Airstream.
Have an another adventure with the Airstream.
Happy Streaming

When my son was 2 or 3, I was good friends with a couple who had a great dane and once in a while, they would babysit him. I'll never forget the first time that my son was walking around the dog and that wagging great Dane tail walloped him alongside the head and knocked him over. My point is, they need a lot of room just to stand. And when you all leave the trailer with these 3 large dogs inside - umm, never mind.

Great Danes are lovely dogs, but they don’t realize what their tail is doing. They are also super lap dogs...
Note that Titus the pup weighs much, much more than daughter...and he sneaked into her lap without waking her...
He’s my son’s dog...our pack in total weight about half what he does...

Nah! With the small space you have to live in, just decide to go it on your own. That's just my opinion but I've never been able to understand why people like having a dog crawing all over their bed & furniture. Yikes!

Just for a brief perspective, we love dogs. We took our dear departed chocolate Lab everywhere, and now have a new Lab puppy who we're anxiously waiting to grow up just a bit more before we travel with her in our 30' Classic.
After reading this thread I asked my wife, who volunteers at the local Humane Society and is the most dog friendly person I know, if she thought it would be possible for two people to full time in a 32' Airstream with two Great Danes and a Shepadoodle. Her reply: "No. Throw a net over them."
Sorry, I know different people have different tolerance levels and almost anything is "possible", but with all due respect this seems like a bad idea.
