External Roof Refinish/Platicoating
Greetings Folks,
I’m beginning to pre-pare for the next project on the Magic Bus.
The exterior roof, including down to about the double black stripes on the top of the sides of the bus are needing attention. Our Bus is NOT a polished finish, and we would like to keep it the original external finish.
My Objective:
1) Use some form of plastic cote(I’ve been told to use Henry 100% silicone Tropi-cool roof coating) to cover the top of the Bus. We’ve been told it can reduce internal temps (in Tucson that's IMPORTANT!).
2) Refinish JUST THE TOP Edges of the exterior where the clear coat is messed up.
(See Pics of the roof).
The steps I THINK I need to take are:
1) Plastic-cote
a. Wash Bus thoroughly
b. ??? re-seal around the vents etc with some form of sealant (Dicor?).
c. Cover VERY top rectangle panels of the Bus with Henry Tropi-cool.
THOUGHTS? Is this the correct approach or am I missing something?
2) Refinishing the roof edges
a. Strip the current clear coating from JUST the top of the bus, from the tops of the windows and UP using Citrus stripper. (Is there a better product to use?)
b. Wash/Clean residual from area stripped.
c. Walbernize: apply the solution in a back and forth motion (not circular).
Again, Any THOUGHTS on what I'm planning on doing?
Will these steps achieve my goal of having a cooler/plastic coated, lovely refinished external roof?
Thanks All !
Todd
