Totaled Bambi in Alabama
I am really upset! My Bambi was hail damaged and Progressive insurance is going to total it! 2006 model like new. I get the pay off. Now I am looking for another like new Bambi to replace it with. Any help would be appreciated.

Other than the vent covers and air conditioner shroud, is anything destroyed on your 2008, or is it just dented like a madman with a ballpien hammer went after it?

I say buy it back and replace the vent covers and AC shroud.
Problem solved, and you get a like new trailer that will have some beauty marks.
If you feel frisky you can even attempt panel replacement yourself in the future....it isn't that hard.

That's what I was thinking about when I posted.
He can buy the trailer back, pay off his loan, replace those broken parts, and enjoy his (nearly) free Bambi.

Hi Stephen,
I sympathize with you damage to your new Airstream. We’re talking hail damage over in this tread http://www.airforums.com/forums/f44/...-no-50766.html too. How about some photos, Steve and Terry (both friends of mine) make some excellent points.
One of these days I’ll fix mine. Meanwhile, home sweet home.

Hi Terry,
Interesting comparison. An insurance adjuster once told me that every time there is hail, they get a lot of claims from people who take ball-peen hammers to their vehicles. You can tell because the hammer leaves scratches in the paint while ice will not. He would demonstrate by saying, “We will pay for this one dent.” He would then throw an ice cube against the sheet metal creating a dent with no scratch marks. What hail damage should look like.

Hi stephen, I'm with the buy back plan if they give you a good price.A few weeks ago I tried to buy a 2006 19' Bambi with hail damage to the top street side end caps.I don't know about yours but you could not see the dents from 30' away and not at all from the curb side. It sold for $16,100.
Good luck Doug

Pictures coming tomorrow.... On mine there are two dents as big as soft balls and other the size of marbles. My neighbor, I was not home at the time said our yards were white with baseball and softball size hail.

Sorry to learn of your loss. Danged old hail is the dread of we Airstream owners. Here in VA over the past three years all we've had is pea sized fall on our baby; however, in TX we kept her under cover at all times as the hail at times would reach the size of hardballs and larger. Good luck with your decision to repair or replace. We hope that it will happen soon for you as it's time to get out there and enjoy our beautiful country.

Stephen,
My '03 Safari was hit with "meatball" sized hail just about a year ago here in TX. Insurance totalled it and I bought it back.
I fiberglassed and painted the A/C shroud. You can't see a single dent at twenty paces and I ended up paying $24k for a 25' SS (and I'm a whole lot more relaxed when I hear "hail" on the weather...got mine!).
