Beautiful weather after Tuesday

After the rain it sure got nice. Went to Monticello on Thursday. The Secretariat Tour was very good as well.
Had a good spot near the Derby House. Attached are some aerial pix. Still learning to use the camera drone. Pix will be better next year.

We were "first timers" (as were about 200 others) at the International Rally in Doswell. We didn't know exactly what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. We had a really good time, with the exception of the extremely hot weather the first several days. On those days we spent a lot of time inside the Farm Bureau building which was nice and cool. It then rained for a day but after that the weather was perfect.

Everything was very well organized with lots of volunteers. The evening entertainment was excellent. I enjoyed talking with the vendors. The pet show, photo contest and handicraft contests were lots of fun. There were more presentations, of all kinds, then we could attend but really enjoyed those we did attend. And great seminars.

The presentation by Justin Humphreys, COO of Airstream was very informative. It was really interesting that AS had several hours of meetings asking for feedback. They took a lot of notes! The new branding for the Airstream Club was exciting.

We enjoyed touring the vintage AS. In that group there are some very talented and patient people.

All in all it was a really grand experience. We would like to do it again!

Thanks to all those who worked so hard, many in the extreme heat, to make it a grand success!

Very few. I was there. The electrical grid did fine.

Ditto.

We had excellent power, never dropped below 114v in the peak use times on the hottest days. Consistently 118-120.

There were scattered incidences, which were quickly tended to.

A pat on the back goes to Tin and Tonic for helping out.

A guess is that the few that did bail out may have done so from fear of a power outage while they were inside the buildings, leaving their pets in the trailers.

A misting station was set up for people and pets, just outside the main building, to help cool down.

It was a great time.

Doswell was my 4th International Rally and for me the best one yet.

2019 WBCCI International Rally - Doswell, VA

It was my 1st International. Sadly, for me, I came down w/ bronchitis 1st day there & then pneumonia. I missed most of the good stuff

There were plenty of good things to say about the rally in Doswell. There are always things to complain about but some of the good things were:

Lots of seminars - too many to attend so it makes me want to attend the next rally so I can pick up where I left off

More vendors - at least more than I've seen at past international rallies. I hope they sold lots of products and services so they'll be sure to attend the next rally

Good entertainment - not every night was my "cup of tea" but I think there was something for everybody throughout the week

Campfires - it was cool enough a few nights that we found a campfire to gather around. Lots of fun 'til the wee hours of the morning

Inflatable pools - lots of friendships were made or renewed in the plethora of kiddie pools that appeared

Tours - we made our own tour to a local tavern or two as well as getting out to explore some nearby areas. Lots of bus tours too. The Secretariat tour that was held on the rally grounds was excellent!

Jam Sessions - nearly every night there was a jam session with as many as a dozen musicians in attendance. They went around the circle to play their favorite songs and once in a while there was sing-a-long to keep the audience engaged.

Crafts/phototography/etc - I wish these items could have been on display for a longer period of time but once again, makes me want to go back next year to see what I missed.

The 2020 International in Loveland promises to be a fun event in a great location. Who knows what kind of weather we'll face but the event will be fun if you make it so. Watch for some unique volunteer opportunities if you're attending Loveland next year.

Good to know, I was scared away by the heat warnings and the admonition to use propane instead of electric for hot water and fridge.

Using propane for hot water and refrigeration is easy and no big deal, neither uses huge amounts. The water heater can be turned off/on for use. The frig uses very little on propane.

Don't let that keep you away. I think we will be asked to do the same at Loveland next year.

Most of the interstates are electric only on fridge so when you need AC AND FRIDGE/freezer....it gets a bit scary. I'm going to skip Loveland because I have no idea what my limits are with only 15 or 20 amp power. Plus our tanks are smaller so we have to dump more.

Darn!! It's always something!!

The average temps in Loveland during the summer are favorable to little to no air conditioning needed, particularly after sun down. And 20a power will be marginal, at best, to run the AC unless we have the Easy Start feature. So maybe powering up the Interstates won't be too bad.

Their ease of maneuverability may make it kinda sorta easy to drive to the dump station in between pump outs if necessary.

Hoping there will be some way for you, and all Interstate owners, to join us in Colorado. I think it will be a great rally and worth the effort of all of us to attend.

John
