Burning Man 2017! Planning thread...
Happy New Year once again Airstreameri!
Hard to believe 2017 is here already and another summer slowly approaches.
As I have been reminded, it is time to get the 2017 Playa Planning going.
Off we go!
This year's event is: August 27 - September 4.
Location: Black Rock Desert, Nevada.
Theme: Radical Rituals
Every year our group of Airstreameri (as we are called) meet on the Playa and create a theme camp around our Airstreams. We offer up a variety of things to the community at large.
Anyone is welcome to join us and participation in the camp is a must.
There are no "camp fees" but each individual is required to buy their own ticket and vehicle pass. Tickets are not yet on sale but visit burningman.org for all the latest info. Ticket info is usually available around mid January.
The Burning Man Festival is not for everyone. It's crazy and noisy on a 24 hour clock. If you have not attended before, read everything on the Burning Man site about the event and especially the preparation information. It is a boondocking, Leave No Trace event and you must pack in and pack out everything you need. You may also want to sign up for the Burning Man newsletter, the Jackrabbit Speaks, (JRS) to get updates.
The weather is often rough and always unpredictable. It can be blistering hot, freezing cold, rainy and muddy and usually windy. Your Airstream will be full of soft, talc like dust. It doesn't scratch or damage but it does creep in no matter what you do. And never completely leaves.
But then there are also those perfect days. And beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Just be prepared.
If you would like to join us, please do. Introduce yourself *here* and jump on this thread to help with the planning.
We usually offer a small bar for the community (that anyone can host anytime of the day with whatever they would like to share), a shade structure "post office" for making post cards (that we stamp and mail for people), we hope that the amazing art car will be back, there will be games, and of course whatever else you would like to contribute would be great. New ideas/suggestions/offerings are always welcome. Let us know here what you'd like to do. The theme this year offers endless possibilities. Can't wait to see what shows up from Canada and Portlandia!
Looking forward to another fantastic year. It is an amazing experience.
Let the planning begin!
Cheers,
Laurel (aka Bam)

Happy New Year fellow Dustyites! Yep, it's snowing and it won't get up to freezing today while they're planning on a flood in Reno after it goes to raining all the snow off the mountain; sounds like a Tuesday morning on playa with a triple rainbow in the rain.
Planning already happening, there's even a dispatch from Placement out. Remember, the Man burns in only http://burningman.org/countdown/
See you all soon!

Any suggestion on turning this to an art car? It can tow a trailer behind with passengers.

Room for everyone if you're willing to be part of the family. We welcome the occasional geek, shrink, and odd uncle.

Really want to go :)
Would love to join the group. I've always wanted to go to Burning Man, but my work schedule hasn't allowed it for many many years. I think I'm just gonna take a few days without pay and head out there. Do you purchase a group pass? I'll be bringing my sweet lil Argosy named JackRabbit

Everyone is welcome and we love new additions!
You must buy your own ticket(s) and vehicle pass.
No group passes. And no camp fees. Just get yourself to the playa and bring some fun.
Cheers.

Portland reporting for playa!
Gigi and Jethro are in along with Tanya, Punky & Shep from East Coast. Bringing back AS peace sign and AS trailer plate bar with shade structure. Jethro was inspired by our neighbors last year with the schwenker grill and is working on one for our camp. Will keep you posted... Miss you all, cannot wait! <3

I have always wanted to go to Burning Man...maybe if I bought my ticket early it would really push me to get ready!! Had already been looking at moving my Airstream to storage in Reno before the event in case I am still working on east coast.
Looking at upgrades to my solar system so maybe I can get thru that week without the loud generator as much. Please keep me included in this thread.

Mdtrid3r........Recommend you start by getting lots of small battery powered led lights similar to those used at Xmas. You will want it to be brightly lit at night. The pull cart can be anything or everything Suggest looking at photos from past BM events and create something interesting.

As a former Airstreameri, and an Airstream neighbor likely to be down the street, I'd like to welcome any newcomers interested in Burning Man (and big, dusty hugs to the returnees).
March 22 is a Date To Remember.
Registration for ticket sales opens on that day.
Be there (online, I mean, not in person, and you don't even have to get dressed).
For full info, here's the Burning Man ticket page

Is this still a possibility? If so, I have something I would like to discuss with you.
