Thanks for sharing the pic's. Would be good to see how the Airstream's were lined up in the group and pictures of what folks did with their Airstream's to beat the heat/sand.

BurnStream Court lines their trailers up by a computer program, our Airstreameri and What Not camp does a special funk sway misalignment as dictated by, by, um the fase of the moon and that star over there or something.
Some folks tape up their windows to make themselves a toaster oven, others don't and have a dust castle.
It's mostly very fine dust; I did a hydrometer analysis on some playa dust once and found 24% of the material still in water suspension after 6 days of settling. I did note more sand on the surface on the west side of the playa the other day.

Thanks everyone for a great burn. It's great to be part of a radically inclusive camp that is so creative. Cosmicray and spitfire. Aka Ray and Carrie.

It was so great to see you all again this year!

Just like last year, Mike (*finally* named Jester!!!) and I hung out with you guys a lot. You're our favorite non-Electra folks to come and spend time chatting with.

Thanks to Ray (?) for the heads-up on the call for extra volunteers for the Temple burn. I rushed out there and just made it in time to join. Ended up working the line next to a guy from the box-office/will-call. People really came out of the woodwork to help make that burn happen, it was really inspiring to see.

Punky asked about the costs for a camp porta potty.

I believe that our camp paid a bit less than $1100 this year for one, including 3 pump-outs. It's so incredibly nice to not to have to use the public ones that get trashed after the first few days.

If you guys have big enough grey tanks (or a grey-water evaporator), you might even cover a lot of the costs by needing less individual trailer pump outs.

See you all next year, I hope!

Great camp this year!
Airstreameri really brought it.
From the new improved VVV (love the bubbles), to the awesome grilling shwenker, to the cool lemonade stand, best ever postcard shop, many bar treats and the entertaining potluck speakers...wow!!
Really fun and creative group! And minimal moop too. Can't wait til next year.
Now if someone could just turn down the heat a little...
Xo

I noticed that a couple of people asked about what was done at burning man to avoid heat in our airstreams. Being Burngins, we opted for the "keep out the sun and dust" mode. To anyone who didn't try it, I can see how it would appear to be creating an oven, but the reality was not that for us. I had Reflectix (the silver roll from Lowes) covering every interior window, as I often do in really hot places. I had extra that I used to cover the same windows outside, but wish I had more. I used painters tape to seal every opening window as well. As you can see in the attached photo, I also put up a sun shade that probably helped as well. We used the fantastic fans to vent hot air during the day. Because it was cool at night, our coverings kept the heat out until after noon. We used a 12 volt MightyCool swamp cooler when it got hot inside. I found out the hard way that my Yamaha 2000 that runs the AC just fine using the "EasyStart" in Florida, does not work at 4000 feet elevation. I'll have a solution for that next time, as it would have been really great to have air-conditioning for those really hot hours of the day.
Yes, we had some dust to clean up, but not nearly as bad as we thought it would be. I saw only two times where there were significant dust storms that created "white outs" and I thought they were really cool. The whole experience was fabulous!
Now that I know that you can get pumped out and also acquire drinking water if needed, it makes It much easier.
As far as your question about organization, thankfully there was very little. All I was told was to keep our door facing north, away from most dust storm directions. That was a good move. We had a friend who's camp was so organized that they had spreadsheets with details of what every person's responsibility was at any given moment. No thanks.
This Burning Man Airstream group is a great group of people and made us feel welcome as newcomers. I highly recommend it.
Steve

Hi Steve,
How on earth did I miss seeing your sun shade? Curious how you attached it to the trailer - and if you had any damage from it (or the attach hardware) rubbing.
Great meeting you and Rachel. Your pics are fabulous. Looks like someone is professional photographer. ?

Hi Laura, I used any possible attachment point on the roof ( Solar panel posts, refrigerator vent, TV antenna support, ect) and didn't notice any rubbing damage.
And yes, I am a commercial photographer. Thanks.

Carrie and I are headed to Germany and Austria in a couple weeks. Does someone have the contact info on our Austrian campers. The two guys in the rented camper. We might have time to look them up. There was the binder? With all the data, but my playa brain didn’t record who owned it.

Hi there, it's me - Andreas - 'Lederhosen'.

First of all let me thank you for welcoming my friend Thomas and me at your camp! We had an amazing first burn and you people made it even better.

It seems like perfect timing that I found this forum. I’d be glad to be of assistance if anyone wants to visit Austria. Just let me know how I can help.

Also thanks for sharing playa photos, once I’m done sorting mine I’ll post a link too.

Andreas
