I recently had two additional BB batteries, Xantrex 3000w inverter and Victron 1000 Smart Shunt added from dealer. I have run into an issue where the SOC% remains stuck at 100% or very close even though the voltage indicates that the SOC is much lower. I worked w BB a few months ago and they confirmed all of my settings including the inverter and thought that the SOC % would reset once I fully charged which it never did. I took back to the dealer and they looked over everything and said everything is working as it is supposed to but provided guidance on ensuring the cut off switch to the chassis battery they added is turned off at all times except when connected to shore power.
I took the van out for 4 days off grid and I was able to use during that time primarily refrig, lights and inverter for microwave one time and the batteries went down to about 12.65 volts over that time which seems logical. There was very little sunlight (trees/canyon) so I probably harvested only 4 hours of sunlight each day of solar.
My issue is and has been since the mod that during this time and drawing the batteries down from 100% to 12.65 volts (15%) the SOC percentage is still stuck at 100%. I also noticed that when my inverter is not on my Shunt does not indicate any loads (Current, Power, Consumed Ah). When my inverter is on it will provide data on Current, Power but also show[Consumed Ah as 0. When, in fact I know I’m drawing power from my compressor frig, lights etc.
Is it normal for the Shunt to not register loads when the inverter is off or should it not matter whether the inverter is on or not? I would think not.
I am not able to get to the wiring as the inverter is under the passenger seat and all 4 batteries are under carriage mounted. The only thing I can think of at this point would be wiring issue or defective Shunt. Before I take back to the dealer, I thought I would ask those who have done this themselves what suggestions they have and what I should be confirming w the installer to troubleshoot. I have included a few pictures for reference.
Appreciate any input you have. Thank you
