Goodbye to an old friend
Back from our first trip without our Mollydog. Old age finally got the better of her. Sure was a quiet trip and a there was a really empty spot in the Airstream.

Losing our cherished pets is no easier really than losing humans. That's how powerfully pets affect us. I know the feeling well. When the time is right, maybe you will find a new friend to take traveling with you.

We too lost a Molly. A Westie. We share your pain.
Our Molly was replaced by Version 2.0 (Holly); just as lovable.
Perhaps you should do the same.

I am sorry for your loss. Remember, Molly is no farther away than your heart. Listen, and you will always hear her and she will always be with you where ever you may go.

Sorry to hear. We know your pain. We've lost 3 of our camping buddies over the course of the last 20 years. Each having their own camping uniqueness and habits when on the road. Each have slept in a different spot in the trailer.
We are out on the road right now and our current two are next to me on the sofa taking their afternoon nap.
Our best to you.
Regards,
Jack

Best Friends
Sorry to hear about your Molly.
We too have lost some great Airstream dogs; Duchess, Maggie, and Dora (Pictured).
Fortunately, others I seen fit to adopt us and make the Airstream a happy place again.

Perfect.
Sorry for the loss of your beloved pet.
We believe our Gus, gone now 9 years, stays close and travels with us, as he would surely have it no other way.

I share your sad spirit....
"There is no death, only a change of worlds"
Chief Seattle
You can never hug them and love them enough....
Why God Created Dogs & Cats
A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to, "Where do pets come from?"
Adam said, "Lord, when I was in the garden, you walked with me everyday. Now I do not see you anymore. I am lonesome here & it is difficult for me to remember how much you love me."
And God said, "No problem! I will create a companion for you that will be with you forever and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are & will love you as I do, in spite of yourself."
And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam. And it was a good animal. And God was pleased. And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam & he wagged his tail.
And Adam said, "Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom & I cannot think of a name for this new animal."
And God said, "No problem! Because I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG."
And Dog lived with Adam & was a companion to him & loved him. And Adam was comforted. And God was pleased. And Dog was content & wagged his tail.
After a while, it came to pass that Adam's guardian angel came to the Lord & said, "Lord, Adam has become filled with pride. He struts & preens like a peacock & he believes he is worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught him that he is loved, but perhaps too well."
And the Lord said, "No problem! I will create for him a companion who will be with him forever & who will see him as he is. The companion will remind him of his limitations, so he will know that he is not always worthy of adoration."
And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam. And Cat would not obey Adam. And when Adam gazed into Cat's eyes, he was reminded that he was not the supreme being.
And Adam learned humility.
And God was pleased.
And Adam was greatly improved.
And Dog was happy.
And the Cat didn't give a hoot one way or the other.
Bob

I found it extremely hard saying goodbye to our beloved pets, especially since we had them since they were babies.
We stopped getting new pets when ours died just before they turned 20.
We couldn't bear doing it again, so we won't be getting any more, I'm afraid.

Sorry for your loss of Mollydog. Run free, girl. Hopefully your heart will let you share the road with another at some point. A new dog can never replace a lost one, but they sure do make our lives more complete (and vice versa, I think).

It has been close to 10 years since we lost our 16 year old Molly. She was ever faithful, opinionated, and honest to the end. It took a year before I could think of another dog and when that thought came, it was strong. Molly is buried here under the weeping birch tree where she would watch me garden. She will never be replaced but I try to honor her memory with our two dogs we have now, Sadie and Lucy.
Molly never got to Airstream but we tent camped with her many times when the kids were little. She was a fierce little Yorkie that wouldn't back down from the hint of a challenge no matter what...German Shepherd or Great Dane. She didn't know her size and would come out swinging. Good thing our big dog Gunnar the Chesapeake was usually there to back her up!
There is a great song "Old Dogs" by Bill Staines that reminds me that someday beyond the bend, we will greet the dogs that went before us. It is a comfort on those days when tears are close and we miss them so much.
Sandy

Ouch. It hurts. They add so much to our life. And I would like to think that we add to theirs as well.
Sorry for your loss.

Oh, how I feel for you. I lost my Springer the weekend before last at age 14.5. I was told almost 4 years ago that she had 2 months to live, due to liver cancer. We had already grieved, but finding her curled peacefully in her normal sleeping position still made me turn so very weak. This weekend is also our first trip without her. It is a special bond....even transcending some human relationships. She was such a loyal companion and a brave FIGHTER.

Hi, Aage: We felt the same way as you. First we lost Blackie and Champ, then we lost Benny and Komaya. We were not going to have anymore pets. Then I lost my parents and Dusty [my parent's dog] adopted us. Komaya was the oldest and made it to 12 1/2 years old. Dusty adopted us at 13 1/2 years old and is now 16. Dusty is in our trailer now as we head for home in a few days.

It's so hard to lose our furry friends. My Alki pup passed away over three years ago at the age of 15, and just this week I was telling someone about her and choked up. You never forget them, and they will always have a place in your heart.
