Safety chain extensions - can I remove the hooks

I need to extend my safety chains on my 2023 Airstream 25fbt to make it work with my WeighSafe hitch. I already have an extension quick link on my truck, but I need at least 4 more inches.

I'd like to remove the hooks off the chains welded to the trailer, but I can't tell from photos if I can do that easily. Is the pin on the safety hooks easily removable so I can add more length with another quick link, or are the pins hammered on the ends and difficult to remove?

The pins on my hooks are secured with cotter pins. Yours should be the same and are easily removed.

Yes, but I worry about the term quick link. I suggest a double clevis. They are made for this and much stronger than the "O" shaped links with the screw barrel. I'll attach a link in a minute.

Does anybody offhand know the size of the chain? Sorry, I'd go look but my storage spot is 20 miles away and I forgot to measure these things during my last trip.
