Shaped sheets for funky beds?

Hi, folks,

Just wondering... Does anybody know a source for replacement, formed bedding for the curved twin singles in the back of a rear twin model? (Including a top pad, hopefully.)

I tried fitting the sheets with suspenders underneath, but I still woke up with the sheets halfway off the bed and lying on that unpleasant plastic bedliner. Yuk!

BTW, I did try a forum search, but didn't find anything exactly about these shaped beds.

I've found that sheet garters on the corners don't work nearly as well as stretching them from side to side. I've replaced the elastic with longer pieces and that works fine. I also clip in the wall side of the top sheet into the same sheet garter I use to secure the bottom fitted sheet.

If you sew, you can make your own fitted lower sheets. Just trace the outline of the top of the mattress, add 14 inches all the way around and zig zag 3/8" elastic (stretched) to the edge of the sheeting. Use "Fuzzy Nylon" thread for best results. It's much stretchier than plain cotton or cotton-polyester.

If you are trying to buy standard sheets, Airstream "twins" are narrower than regular twins. If you can find "daybed" sheets they are much closer to the right size than regular twins.

We have a queen size bed in ours and I buy the jersey sheets at Target for a full size bed and they stretch to fit the bed really nice. I really like the feel of the sheets too. Don't know if the jersey twin size would help you out with the curved corners but when we had our last Airstream it had twins in the middle and they fit nice. Do you have an owners manual and service manual for you 79? If not would you be interested in one? Jan

I used the jersey fitted bottom sheet and keep it on all the time. I bought a silk bedsack but didn't care for the way it was made, so found some cheap silk and made my own bedsacks and pillowcases. I used some elastic across the bottom underneath to keep it all tucked into the foot of the bed. The silk washes and dries in nothing flat; that was a consideration. A bedspread covers it all.
