My Pentair Shurflo 4008 sounds like a Gatling Gun (vintage)

I don't know if it's just my unit but the Pentair Shurflo 4008 water pump is ridiculously loud.

I added inflow and outflow tubing, unscrewed the unit from the floor and placed it on a piece of foam to absorb the reverberation but it still sounds just like those old Gatling Guns in the movies; it's an embarrassment. Adding an accumulator won't make much of a difference since at one point you need to fill the accumulator (in addition Pentair writes in their documentation "no accumulator needed" for the 4008).

There were folks in past threads that seemed to indicate that their pump was silent. What make and model do you have that is so silent?

I will have a dual purpose Pentair Shurflo for sale in the not too distant future, it pumps water and scares off bears!

I had a loud shurflo 4008 but found it wasn’t the pump as much as a pex line against the side of the coach under the bathroom sink. Secured the line with a zip tie and the sound greatly diminished. Also after talking with Shurflo tech dept the said you can certainly add the accumulator if you like but it’s not necessary. However the tech I spoke with recommended it. So I added an accumulator. Seems to help on the start up pressure but not sure it made it any quieter. Also my filter was upside down. Clear bowl on top causing trapped air. Shurflo says the clear bowl must be on the bottom in order to get filtration. Hope this helps
